Which Van?
« on: July 05, 2008, 04:35:33 pm »
In the process of setting up a CC business, nearly chosen the machine, but have yet to get a van, I was thinking along the lines of Citroen Berlingo or Renault Kangoo, would these be big enough?

What's the most popular van for a newbie?

Budget wise, i'm looking at around £3,500 to £4,500 + vat

We started off with a Berlingo 2.0HDi and it served me well for a good couple of years, had an Extracta Exel and all the associated gear in it quite comfortably.  We fully plylined it and put some shelving up high on the bulkhead for containers and put cargo railing all around for anchorage points for bungees to hold everything in place.

We've still got the van but now it's used by the girlies for domestic cleans, Y reg 118,000 miles or more on the clock and still running well.

Hi Richard

I went for a Ford Transit connect after looking at all small vans in the range. If you go for the powrflite machine everything fits in snugly which is what you want, no need to tie everything down and i think its a good looking vehicle with plenty of clean panel space for sign writing, also I would go for white.

Cheers Paul

I wish I had bought a bigger van than my combo, no side door and sometimes you want a rotary in there as well and it's a squeaze.

Quite often a swb bigger van is cheaper to buy, but oviosly a bit heavier on fuel, but if you do a small radius it's not a problem.

Len, i've got a vw passet estate at the moment, but i don't think it will be big enough with all the kit etc, plus its the only car and i don't want to be swapping baby gear and carpet cleaning equip every 5 mins!

I don't, but better an optimist than a pesimist, otherwise I wouldn't bother in the first place.

I also have another business which I do part time, which will help, hopefully!
