So Gardiners and SLX users - how are these poles going now you've had them a while?

Oh and if i want to run at approx 18ft instead of 25ft for a day, how easy is it to remove the bottom section?

Really nice pole, mine's going well didn't like the clamps to start with but they make a lot of sense after a while. They have a large range of movement which means there is very little friction when fully open. Easy to remove a section but there is no need. Just needs a quality really light brush for it next.

had mine for 2 weeks now and if it broke tomorrow i would be gutted but i would get another straight away its very light and very strong a fantastic pole imo

It's so easy to use, this is the best pole out there at the moment, yea had to adjust to the clamps, but very happy with them now, work beautifully. Reaches literally everything, even very high 2nd floor windows.

I use my 17ft Xtel for fascia cleans and conservatory cleans, but I dread using it, it's such a rubbish pole really.

I used my SLX once for a fascia clean, and the noise the grit/dirt made (might have been some mortar spots on the fascia, coming down the pole?) in between the sections made me slightly uncomfortable so to speak, so I'm just using a cheap pole for those dirty jobs. Since then I've used my SLX once on a fascia clean, but used a ziptie on the gooseneck, so most of the water didn't get to the pole itself.

slightly off topic - but people say its ideally suited to both ground floor and up to three stories in one pole - dont you guys that have it find the closed section a little long for most ground floor residential like in the entryways beside two houses etc?

Hi Kev, yes it can be, but if you're smart, you'd fit a decent swivel gooseneck  and Tucker brush on the pole thus enabling you to reach even the awkward bottom panes of glass on sash windows in fairly restricted, confined spaces.

The SLX is one of those tools that is so good, that you forget all about it and just get on with your job. I think most people who have one are past the stage of shouting from the rooftops about it and just get on with their work.

Yes you can easily remove any section on the sl-x, but, if you used it i don't think you would bother. the pole is perfectley balanced as it. The sl-x is very, very robust, i've closed windows, bent it through iron railings etc no probs (not that i recomend you bend it through railings mind).

Top pole, good price, IMO you can't fail to be impressed.

It is fairly straightforward to remove the lower sections if you want to, but most find that the pole is so light that they never bother. The closed length is 5' 7" however many sections you use.

If you really did want to remove the bottom section and have it at 20ft then it would be best to fit a quick release connector (john guest or similar) to the pole hose so that you could slide it on and off easily over the pole hose. You would also need a different size end cap for it.

I buy tile brushes from hillhead brush company, remove the tile bristles and adapt it to fit Tucker brushes. It swivels 10 times better than the ready made off the shelf swivel connections that some wfp online shops sell.

25ft actual length (about 30ft reach) and 5' 7" when closed. Also we have made some fibre glass extension sections for some clients that add another telescopic section to the base giving another 4' of length (29ft actual).

Its the best piece of eqipment Ive ever bought, initially there was some upset with a few of the clamps on some peoples poles, but they are by far the best clamps Ive ever used and with the loctitie havent required ANY adjustment unlike all the other poles Ive ever used, Luke

You won't need to remove anything.  It works good at 18'.

I've got used to my little 2' extending to 4' g/f for most ground floor, so I find that the SLX is a little unwealding for groundfloor stuff, however I do use it if I'm round the far end of a building finishing top floor, drop the sections down and then just work back round.  I've found it quite time saving.  Great clamps, sections raise and lower nicely without slamming down on you.  A very handy height fully extended, well thought out design.  Comfortable diameter to the base section for holding.  Good rigid pole.

Would prefer if they were £15, but.....you generally get what you pay for.

Oh and when closed at 5'7" a very compact pole to slip in any van.

I clean it the same as I do any pole.......not often enough!

It seems that the SLX is a winner from the feed back! I dont have one my self, as my present poles are ok but when they need renewing then it would seem this is the pole to get, Alex as this pole goes to 25ft is there any plans for a longer SLX something like a 45ft!
