Cleaning screens
« on: January 28, 2005, 01:57:52 am »
Hey mates: :-*

I do not hear very much about cleaning screens.  Almost 100% of my residential clients have screens.  If you do clean screens what cleaning method do you use?

We line the screens up(in order so not as to get them mixed up because different sizes) against a wall and hose them down with a lot of pressure. Then we tap them on concrete on both ends to knock off the water and Then wipe off the frames.

If they are really bad we scrub them with solution and the scrubber and then hose them off. That is one reason I charge a flat $10 dollars per window because the screen cleaning is included.  ;D

Texas,

In the UK I don't think we have 'screens'.  I think the lack of replies (although there's been a large number of 'looks'), indicate we're not sure what you mean.

Normally, here, we only clean the exterior of a window, but on occassions clean the insides.

Then normally we're faced by curtains (do you call them drapes?).  Sometimes in offices/factory units/hairdressing salons we have the 'Venetian Blinds' which can be a right pain in the bottom to work around - but we don't clean them - even though they might be really dirty.

Honestly, we're really basic here.  'Window Cleaner' means 'Window Cleaner', and the only discussion here is whether a window frame should be cleaned with the window.

I think the British public in general, have a lowly view of window cleaners - in that we're drunks, unreliable and sometimes just plain burglars in disguise.

For me this stereo-typical image it's great - as I'm a slight cut above the public perception.

I like to give the impression that 'You mighn't think I'm great, but the devil you know is better than the devil you don't'.

This keeps my customers pretty loyal.  I've only lost three in the past three months!

I'll send you some photo's of our normal work.  Wait out!
