I've recently added a varistream, kindly supplied by Roy Harding.

One thing I notice is that I'm getting through water quicker, and almost ran out completely today.

The reason being that it seems to be inconsistent in it's flow, depending on many factors I guess.

I set it for the flow that I want at the start of the day, and by the next house it's blasting out.
So I turn it down so the pump is barely moving, but it's still a fairly high flow, you just can't turn it down enough.

After a few houses it slows down again to too slow.
So I turn it back up a bit, and guess what?!
A few windows later it's a torrent again.

I guess it depends on how much hose is out, how high you're working, how much water is in the tank...etc...

It's great to have the control, but it seems to have a mind of it's own.

Do I need a 30psi pump or something?

The good thing with it is it keeps a constant flow ie the same at any height,are you using microbore as it can do this with that hose also check the dial inside the box to make sure it`s setup with your hosereel,it should shut the pump off within about 6 secs or it needs adjusting cos the longer it takes to turn off the higher the pressure when you next plug in.

theres a little blue dial inside the varistream they usually need setting to suit what set up you have it may well be worth while having a play but turn it very carefully they are very sensitive,good luck

Yeah, I've done that.

I had to, because it was making the pump cycle on and off.
It's constant now, but the flow varies a lot.

Oh, and I have got microbore.

Roger, go through all the wiring connections, make sure you have a good contact on all of them.



One bad connection can send your settings haywire, [no pun intended]

Depending on how it's set up you might find that the pump builds up a lot of pressure when you shut the valve, so when it's opened again it will come out in a torrent and then gradually slow down to normal.  It should work at the same rate no matter how high or how far the hose is reeled out.
