backflip- any good?
« on: January 25, 2005, 11:55:08 pm »
Hi all,
Has anyone used the "backflip" and how tricky is it to get the hang of? Seems to me that it would be loads quicker than seperate app and squegee.

Don't use it myself but have a mate who does who says it's good on frequently cleaned windows but slower on longer intervals.

He reckons that in average conditions a month interval is about the limit before the dirt builds up too much on the windows.
It's a game of three halves!

I tried it but didn't get on with it.  I found it to bulky and gave it away.

I use one eveyday. It saves me shed loads of time.Takes a lot of getting used to.You get to know which windows you can do in one pass and which you have to scrub first. This only takes a second anyway before you squeegee the window cos it's still in your hand, obviously.Couldn't be without mine.
Got the neck of mine repaired by father in law who worked at Westlands and still use the same one 4 years later.Brilliant piece of kit.Prob abit big and bulky for the girlies though, or so I've been told. ;)

What do you fella`s use if  your `poling` and the windows have sills and ledges??
I know the `BackFlip` sqeegee is like a mini `ledger` and will only work on ledges
less than say 3 inches deep.I use Peter Fogwills `LedgerMates`,would`nt be without
em`. Where my w,f.p `customers` have complained about water spots being left etc.etc
I`ve gone back to using them.Good finish with practise and anything beats using a ladder!

Er ........

Having written 'what's a back flip' and got a reply and decided to get one and give it a go - I'm now going to ask ............

What's a 'ledger'?

I didn't know the Shaulin Temple monks were window cleaners? Have you seen 'Karate Kid' wherein he learns how to block etc by mastering window cleaning?

Windows_chepstow,when I said "it was a bit big & bulky for the girlies,or so I've been told" ,I meant it as a double entendre.I meant no offence to any of the lovely little ladies out there. ;)

ustin,
Windows_chepstow is a Geordie, everything offends them, its the law ;D
He even has his squeegee and applicator linked by a chain......so he can use them as a rice flail when the need arises, which being a geordie is daily  ;D
If you didn't insult him he would be insulted 8)
