the grove is designed to hole either side of a brick/stone corner. A frame ladders IMO are 100% safer than conventinal ladders. where on a conventinal ladder you need 4 poins of contact on an a frame you only need 3 giving you more flexabilty as to where you can possition it. i'll get some pics tomorw. i only use A frame ladders unless going up to 3rd story.

Arent you describing a pointer ladder? An 'A' frame ladder is a ladder that is stand alone in an 'A' shape and you would use to change a lightbulb....... :
