big job how much
« on: June 23, 2008, 09:46:55 pm »
I may have a big job coming up - its too far for us but for anyone local to it then it would be a fantastic job.

I'm not giving anything away just yet but the job takes 115hrs per month.

If I was subbing it out how much would it cost per month?

serious replies please, this is a large commercial job.

thanks mate.

it would probably suit an employer better than a one or two man show as the working hrs are quite restrictive.  It has to be done early morning although its a constant job, not a one off.

how much would you want sheepmeister?

I'd want £2500.00 - £3000.00 for that sort of work. I take it its WFP?

if you were paying staff 115hrs @ £10 an hr + costs

= £1150/month + costs.

does that sound reasonable?

I understand you would need to make a profit on it but assuming costs of max £500 per month then £1650/month plus whatever you need for a profit.

most of the work is inside, trad, a little work outside with wfp.

Me? A lot of money... well, about £3500 if I had the man power. Just over £30 an hour. Like you say, it would suit an employer, which I'm not as yet.

I'm not giving anymore away until I get confirmation, I don't want to raise anybody's expectations.

Im guessing that my price came in too high but if you are going to pay someone £10/hour and have them out in a fully kitted up van then they need to be generating at the very  least £20/hour (£2300 total cost for 115 hours) £25/hour would be better(£2875 total) or £30 top end for an employee (£3450 total). If you couldn't get any of these prices for commercial work you may as well have them on domestic work. These no point employing someone if they don't earn you money, i learnt this the hard way.

I know it takes 115hrs because I may be taking it over from another firm who have told me it takes that long, they quoted £1400 for it and are giving it up.

I'm not sure whether our quote has been accepted or not.
