I see the ncca web site has been knocked of the top spot for carpet cleaning by www.anyclean.co.uk/

The ncca have been top for the last 3years.

There has been a lot of movement recently, our site took a whack because of some non related cleaning links that I have now removed.

You can never be too sure, I have been reading a lot of articles recently from over the pond, I have picked up some very interesting pointers also, looking forward to getting tuck into it in the next week or so.

Any idea how they get away with stuffing place and postcode keywords on homepage i thought you could get blacklisted for these practices.

Spelling error, stuck not tuck,

I think if the information is included in paragraphs rather than blatant lists, looking at several other ways of increasing site importance.

Top spot on Google is determined by what search term you use! The top spot on any page or search term changes every few seconds and minutes! The reason why Anyclean site ranks so well is because they have spent a couple of grand if not more on their website and are now reaping the rewards of that investment i.e. high page ranking = lots of customers = lots of £'s. Anyone can do it you have to be prepared to invest in the best.

Not sure you are right, top spot for specific search does not necessarily change all of the time, throwing money at a site with some SEO companies has seen sites drop or even banned, for example buying in links or using Black Hat SEO, look that one up!

Do not agree you have to spend thousands of pounds, my relatively new sites ranking well with £250 invested + my time and help from the guys on here.

Hi Guys

Couple of things spring to mind.

They have obviously worked hard and promoted their site heavily.

What is most important is being top for the key words most will search for and that is carpet cleaning, cleaners etc for your areas, in my case Essex. These rankings do not change very often and because it is difficult to achieve, then it is worth having .

Wouldn't be much point in being top for a day and then relegated by the new kid on the block.

As for the NCCA i have long thought that it's only marketing tool is it's excellent rankings, it will need to work hard to protect this.

Cheers

Doug

The relevance of the site along with the dedicated carpet cleaning links and changing content should keep the NCCA site strong.

I have a link on the NCCA which i had to pay for. I dont have a link back to them on my site. Why give one back for free?

I think Google views giving a link back as a good resource for your viewing customer or potential customer,
you could add a 'no follow' link back though.
