If the problem continues, Turn your water off when you do around the vent, or stay away from it completely.

Don't clean vents at all.
Tough luck for the customer, but it's better than spots and runs.

did anybody else when starting have a few custys all at once not be impressed with wfp, 4 weeks everything fine 5 weeks everything fine (Maybe 1 or 2), today i had a customer of 7 years say, im not really to keen on that beacuse it sort of misses bits of the window,
i asked her to show me,
she also said that another custy said that it will give people the idea to go out and do it there selves,
i couldnt be bothered explaining and told her i could do with loosing a few customers so i can replace them with better priced ones, and when they try it there selves and make a mess and ask us too do it again ill re price the job realistically..
then i asked her which windows were a mess, she said this kitchen window and a little window on the bottom side, she said upstairs and the front was absolutely perfect..
i said well thats funny because after 7 years your complaining, them 2 windows have never been done wfp because at the moment were only doing upstairs and the odd downstairs, she shut up.

anyway its just a little disheartening. ???

I had a custy a couple of weeks back whom I have done for around 6 years, he tells me he was having a large conservatory built, so he went out and bought a pressure washer to clean his windows and conservatory with. ::)

Maybe its true, I still do next door, so we'll see and when he's blown all his seals and ends up with spots all over the windows, he'll have to look for another w/c because I don't take them back.

Good ridden's there's bigger fish in the sea, so don't let it get you down

these last couple of weeks ive had about 5 idiot customers like this who would rather us fall off a ladder than give it a chance, i suppose its not that bad considering we do over 100 houses a day, just got me down...

also did everybody else find that at first you are constantly findind different techniques to get the job just a little bit better each time..

firstly I would never tell a customer that I will replace for a better job (your asking for trouble with that as you make them feel bad you need them more than they need you they are your money.

be nice to customers make them feel good it works for me, I have had the odd problem I be nice (sometimes I have steam out of ears and still be nice)

Trad downstrairs up wfp your asking for trouble as it says you dont trust the results and are making a rod for your own back IMO

I am quite frank with customers but I am aways nice when saying it even if they are really bad (this reason a bad customer with nose out of joing talks about you in a bad way for ever, being nice costs nothing and saves a lot of moey.

im always nice, and was just letting them know there not indispensible also i do up wfp and down trad because there are 2 of us, 1 trolley and it is the only way that we totally cut out the climbing and have enough water, when we get a van in a couple of months we will do both because we can carry more water...

To avoid squirting water into vents, I don't turn the flow on until the brush is on the glass.
Try putting your brush on the glass further down, then carefully go to the top of the pane keeping the brush on at all times. When you have scrubbed all the glass, rinse with the brush on.

What a load of rubbish.
There are reasons for wfp uppers and trad lowers which some will never comprehend from a business point of view.
We do it this way and it works a treat for reasons which some (even on here) will never understand.

why is that neil?
I trad my own windows and do enjoy doing insides trad nowadays where i used to avoid. But i can't see see any business advantage (apart from making the customer happy), to use different tools for the same job when 1 will do the job on its own and much quicker, i think.

Dave/Dai,

So are you saying that you clean the frames but not at the top or are you saying you only clean the glass?

This what makes us and everyone different ;)

From a business point of view I do what is best for business.

I still clean trad aswell by the way as it is more benifital sometimes.

"Making the customer happy" is really quite a good business advantage if you think about it.  ;D
