Is The future wfp ..for our customers.who DIY.!
« on: June 13, 2008, 10:32:00 pm »
With wfp becoming cheaper and more widely accessible,

could it be that one day our customers will own a cheap pole, hold a small amount of pure water, and do their own windows?

in the not so distant future?

after all , its the ladders which put people off.

or could it be that window cleaning will always be a chore to them>

whats your opinion guys?

Gary.

At the end of the day people with money won`t do them themselves they`d rather pay for all manual tasks to be done round the home.

My excuse for not doing them is I want to film a dirty house, it is now wearing a little thin.

I normally do them every time a bird poops on the glass or I get nagged to.

I dont think other will buy a pole make pure water and do them, it is easier to get a window cleaner to do them.

Well thats impressive, but i am sure a lot of people cant afford cleaners, and car polishers..

and only employ a window cleaner because, they cant or wont climb ladders, otherwise they would not pay someone....

its a valid point even if 30% bought cheap gear in the future it would have a knock on effect , with families and friends borrowing from each other , it would not take much working out as to where would or could all end up. huh?

Im not trying to impress you! I am saying i have equipment to clean, but i get someone else to do it! I would say that most people employ a window cleaner as they cant be bothered or dont have the time to clean them themselves.

Gary , people will always want there windows cleaning , not matter what , this proffesion is pretty much recession proof .  The good thing about this trade , is there are so many cowboys about , if you do it properly , even if things get tighter you can offer customers 8 weekly clean instead of monthly and go out and get more customers !   I have canvassed , bought and sold work etc etc  ( you get the point lol )  ;D   Try to stay positive  ;)

thinking , i hope people dont do them themselves one day, with this system.

and i am also making a point which we can discuss on here,

oh and i DID say in my opening post , that maybe they will always pay for a window cleaner.

so just want some opinions cock.   ;D ;)

How many people do you know that have RO DI systems and can get tap water down to 0ppm tds.  The only ones I know are window cleaners and aquarium keepers.
To produce just 30 Liters of very pure water is a nightmare if you don't have the proper gear.  You might get a few trying it with car cleaning kits for a bit, but round this way the water is 400+ ppm, the kits won't last long.
Then there is buying a pole and brush as well and then there is doing it.  I can't see that many people being too bothered
The danger to the trade at the moment, is not enough money and an influx or new widow cleaners from other professions that have been made redundant.  They may have made only £8 hour in their last job and could double their earnings by easily undercutting most people on here.

Banter.
Business isn't the most important thing in my life. If the wc industry crashed. Which it could do easily, hosepipe ban ECT ECT. Well I'll look else where for employmennt I certainly don't see myself cleaning windows in 50 years time. I just say things how I see them. Its not as good a time to be a wc now as it was say 2 years ago. But I still can't see custies cleaning their own windows.
