cleaned a gutter fascia and soffit today using a vikan oval brush fitted with fan jets , my opinion was that fan jets for this type of work are far better than the pencil jets , ive done loads of this type of work but today was first time with the fans and really pleased i gave it a try .

I don't think you can from the ground..

I met someone the other day who fits cladding and fascias and stuf and he says if asked to clean soffits etc he sprays tfr onto the plastic, leaves it for ten minutes and then rinses with a hose - and no scrubbing at all.

wally im doing 2 more tommorrow i will take some before and after photos and some of the posistion i put the brush in for each section it will be easier than me tryin to explain .

we find a vikan hilo sill brush is the best brush for the job as the bristles get behind the guttering aswell. we use pencil jets, when finished rinsing we turt the water off and rubb our hands across the bristle shaking off the access water then wipe the underside of the guttering and facia boards with the brush removing all the water droplets left behind.

Have you or anyone else ever tried this to report back on? It seems a little too simple somehow!

If it works it sounds great! It's got to be easier and quicker than working with a brush overhead and trying to get a large brush into small nooks and crannies.

tfr will do nothing but loosen up the dirt ,not the discolourling on white plastic
ie black marks which can get en grained  on plastic
only way is getting scrubber with a upvc cream cleaner

I really have very limited experience of this, so please forgive me if I appear to be a spokesman from the Ministry of the Bleedin' Obvious.

I haven't found that ingrained dirt is a problem with guttering, fascia and soffits. The dirt is very loosely attached and just needs a fairly light brushing and a light water flow to simply loosen it and rinse it away.

The problem that I have had (and I've only done a couple of these jobs) is how to get 3" long bristles into a 4" deep crevice to clean the top of the fascia behind the gutter and the tops of those brackets. The brackets seem to get covered in spiders' webs which trap the dirt and look even worse when everything around them is gleaming.

My only solution is to get up close and personal with a microfibre and give it a hand job - so to speak.

That's why I've only done bungalows and had to turn down a few offers of work from regular 2-storey houses.

It gives me no pleasure right now to be turning down work !!!!
