Shiner - one of the reasons I put you forward is your background with a particular belief system - you understand it, yet don't (IMO) over-react or under react to it.

You seem very even-handed when the belief system comes up in topics.

It's a game of three halves!

I sense a strangely biased view influencing this promotion.

I could understand if your reasons were based on how many windowcleaners respected him due to past business dealings, or because he knows 750 people on here personally as friends, but what's going on?  Are we surrounded by Freemasons or something?
"Quite frankly" as Alan Sugar would say, "You just blew it as far as I'm concerned".

Could you please elaborate as to what you mean by a "biased view influencing this promotion"?  There are several possible ways of understanding that statement and I was wondering which way you meant it.
Freemasonery eh?  I've been called many things in my life (sometimes deservedly so   ;D ) but never a Freemason.  Mind you, although not a mason myself, I don't believe freemasonry is all bad - not as I understand it anyway.  They have good charitable aims.  Where I dislike it is when one of its members breaks the law and gets away with it due to his/her connections.  The work area is pretty dubious too where perhaps someone may secure a contract due to insider info supplied by a fellow mason.  As for likening stuff on this forum to freemasonry, I just don't get it.  It's not as if I have applied for a 50 grand a year job and am seeking personal gain.
Now where's Mike so that I can demonstrate my funny handshake?

Seems a very obscure reason to me!  My comparing it to the freemasons was no big deal, there's no need for a definition of their activities, mate.  We just know that there is a measure of 'mystery' to their activities.  (I have worked with a few, and they would agree).

You don't need to get defensive or 'get it'.  Others will.......or won't ;)

Does it really matter?

I would have thought Mike had a clearer criteria of who would fit the role than someone simply being tolerant of a minority belief system.  Just my opinion of course, and probably a minority one at that!

In the 70s I believed in re-incarnation and that our previous existence was in Atlantis beneath the sea and Stonehenge and lines of force had something to do with the stars which are now misplaced.  A bit confused...

However, I am now very tolerant of anyone who likes Jimi Hendrix.....oh and Led Zeppelin!
Does this make me a good candidate? ;D

Mind you, if you want the role Shiner go for it mate!  I don't think there'll be much competition

First of all Malc stated "ONE OF THE reasons" rather than that being a main reason.  Also, I don't know how you (incorrectly) deduced that I was being defensive.  I've nothing to defend.  I reckon I'm a far more open book than most on here.  Quite frankly, I couldn't give a damn if I end up moderating on here or not.

I think it might help to give a damn actually.  I'll see if I have one I can lend you...

Sorry Shiner, not meaning to take a pop at you personally, I just didn't think the reason Malc chose to state was a valid one, a relevant one, or for that matter a wise one.

It's ok though, it was only a passing thought.  I'll probably think differently after my mackerel sandwich and cuppa. ;)

I am a Jehovah's Witness, rarely make mention of it on this site though.  I view my window cleaning as a support for my preaching, all though window cleaning is very important to me as well.  I know of a few others on the site that are as well.

Just wondered what Matt B's reasons were out of curiosity.  I wonder if any of the mods are JWs.  Nothing fishy.

Simon.

I dont like to mix my beliefs in with a Window Cleaning forum, but so am I!!!! I too clean to support my preaching. And there are quite alot of us on here, I have never mentioned it before on this site, but I know that many of the members on lots of the WC forums are JW's. Luke

The percentage is a large one, though I doubt anyone actually knows the right facts for the entire country  ;D Around my way 60% of the WC'ers are JW's, Luke
