As a window cleaner; falls from height aside; I think a bigger risk is getting too many UV rays from the sun.

Every window cleaner I know; including me; always has a deep tan in the Summer; and I'm carefull and use top-end factor 50 stuff; usually.

A (now ex) customer of mine was riddled with cancer that begun as skin cancer on her nose; and then rapidly spread.

spot on , if you NEED to worry about health hazzards skin cancer from uv is a much bigger worry than aliminium poisoning........honestly  ::) do people really worry about this ???
stop smoking capstans
only drink ONE bottle of vodka a week
just eat kebab at weekends
any one of these will prolong your life or mental health more than NOT touching aluminium

There is a very high incidence of breast cancer in societies that use antipersperent containing aluminium especially in the upper outer quartile of the breast which is next to the armpit.

There is no special reason why it should occur in the upper outer quartile as all tissue is the same, Is it such a coincidence the part of the breast nearest to the armpit which gets sprayed with aluminium has the most cancer.

yes and about the wifes, we use Bionson or how ever its spelt, aluminium free.

If yopu know how it works you will know alluminium in the blood stream = possible death.

The alluminium particles in deoderants are  supposedly to large to seep through your pores in your armpits but if they got through they will kill you.

Do you believe them ?

Do you trust them  ?

Do you think chemical companies put profit before your wellbeing  ?

My Mother died from Breast and liver cancer, do you think these cancers are natural or man made  ?

Coincidence breast cancer is a western disease  ?

Coincidence most breast cancer happens in the upper outer quartile  ?

Sorry Dave, bit insensitive of me.  I remember about your Mum, now.

However, for a big strong bloke you worry too much.

You know the saying, "If you live long enough you'll die of something".

I do think that UV is one of our bigger risks as w/cs.  Especially our arms and heads.  I look a right berk in a hat, but I'll look an even bigger one with half my head missing.  I've already got very strange lumps growing on my arms where moles used to be...they just dropped off one day and these lumps grew.

A year ago we were all worried about bird flu.

I don't know how some of you manage to keep your hands dry, mine get wet every time I change poles.
I have yet to master the technique of using those little connectors without wetting my gloves, if I try and disconnect them with my hand underneath, I get an eye or ear full guaranteed.

The Harris pole will make your hands black, that's why I wear gloves even in the summer, maybe a coating of clear lacquer or the heat shrink stuff would prevent that.

As for suntan, I am definitely two tone, every thing at the back is brown whilst the front is a lot paler.

As for washing your hands, well there is no shortage of pure water, anyway a bit of bird poo should help keep your immune system topped up nicely.

You make some very good points Dave.

On the plus side, there may be something in your birds muck sandwiches that has cancer fighting properties.

Seriously though, you seem very well informed.

Increase in asthma in young ones is put down to keeping them too clean and not allowing them to roll round in dirt etc !  Doesnt allow there immune system to build up resistance .

I knew a chap who was working at the Cancer research Medical Centre in North West London

He was researching the effects of Talcum Powder as an anti perspirant

This is true..

His research was cut short, he died of Lymphoma Cancer aged 50!

Talc is toxic. Talc particles cause tumors in human ovaries and lungs. Numerous studies have shown a strong link between frequent use of talc in the female genital area and ovarian cancer. Talc particles are able to move through the reproductive system and become imbedded in the lining of the ovary. Researchers have found talc particles in ovarian tumors and have found that women with ovarian cancer have used talcum powder in their genital area more frequently than healthy women.2

Talc poses a health risk when exposed to the lungs. Talc miners have shown higher rates of lung cancer and other respiratory illnesses from exposure to industrial grade talc, which contains dangerous silica and asbestos. The common household hazard posed by talc is inhalation of baby powder by infants. Since the early 1980s, records show that several thousand infants each year have died or become seriously ill following accidental inhalation of baby powder.3

Q. What about infants

I cleaned two big comunal washing machines today :o

I decided to take out the washing powder trays and clean them!

I used boiling water and a green scouring pad, but it was like concrete - I gave up, beyond the trays down the tube it looked like the icing from a wedding cake.

That's what we wash our clothes in!

We are indeed completely out of touch with nature.

dont understand the people who say they cant wash their hands at work. you have detergent, you have a tank of water, you have cloth to dry. unless of cause you are not using any of this stuff. or buy a bottle of waterless hand wash
