Which part of the year do you go on holiday
« on: June 10, 2008, 05:56:30 pm »
Finding it hard to catch a break now with all the work coming in, I tend to go flat out during the summer and then either take a holiday May time or September time. But now more looking like December time.

We are fortunate as we home educate our kids so can go any time but taking time off is proving difficult with the the work coming in.

I take a few short breaks, had first holiday in years only to come back work overflowing and a guy with a broken leg in hospital, taken till now to catch up and went in feb.

Next(if) I go away again it's staff holidays at the same time.

I don't think there's ever a good time to go away.  Nice relaxing 2 week break, then come back and work like a dog to catch up and undo the relaxing holiday ::)

I found last year a lot of my custys were away mid July to mid August, so I'm taking a couple of weeks off then.

I tried taking short breaks last year, the odd long weekend, but I didn't feel recharged. I think you need a complete break from it for 10-14 days. Mobile off!

I honestly think a holiday is the worst thing I can do. Note I said I. We have kids aged 9,7 & 2.5. Taking them anywhere is a nightmare. Staying home is so much easier and cheaper. Try buying them all a drink and a sandwich :( I take this view : people come here on holiday so why don't I have a holiday here? Take a few days off here and there, not a week or a fortnight. Enjoy the kids. Don't get stressed. Don't pay silly money all day. (Hope my missus doesn't read this.....she'll get that credit card hot hot hot ;D ;D)

My kids are both still at school ( youngest is 12) so we are tied to school holidays. Past years holidays have not be the great sucess we had hoped for. It all looks idylic in the brochure but when you get there its not quite the same.

I like to get away abit  - you need it

Last january , went london for weekend with missus & 2 girls
August - Rhodes for a week
October - Rhodes 1 week
December - took missus to Prague for 3 days

Not been anywhere yet but just booked 2 weeks in Rhodes in August, but i build my own holiday & flights on internet, got some cheap flights last october, so know afew sights to look on.

Just found my mate 4  day break to milan, flying from Manchester to Milan, then Milan back into Manchester in October

1p each flight (no taxes) , Man/Milan

£20.00 each back (including taxes), Milan/Man

thats just the flights, so mega cheap i think you would agree

 ;)

In theory can get as many when I want now, as we have a static caravan on the Dorest coast.
As mentioned yes you do need a full week away to get away, and if possible to a place where mobiles hardly work  ;)

Their is no good time to take a holiday just take one you need to recharge the batteries every now and again just schedule it in then reschedule your work it will still be there when you come back
All work and no play as the saying goes
As you know i am just back from Italy and i am going back again later in the year its only money when its gone its gone your dead a long time ... any more old sayings  ;D
