Vikan for me, although rectangular is a must as i don't clean the top frame & do a lot of sash windows.

Tried salmon, hate them, total over-hyped rubbish! ;)

Absolutley, you'll struggle to clean & rinse the corners with an oval. trust me, i used one for 2 years then switched to the rectangular when it came to the market. they're worlds apart, IMO for sash windows, rectangular is a must. ;)

I use both flocked (green & red bristles) & monofilament (red bristles). you can get them from just about all wfp suppliers but i get mine from cleantech as i prefere where they possition the jets,- more towards the edges of the brush, gives a better flow throughout the bristles & rises better into corners. I would also recommend 2mm pencil jets & not fan jets. ;)

P.S. It's vital you get medium grade bristles & NOT hard ones like NWH. ;)

we have tried

oval vikan flocked - rubbish
oval vikan mono - rubbish
rectangular vikan flocked - rubbish
rectangular vikan mono - rubbish
16inch vikan flocked - very heavy rubbish
vikan sill flocked - rubbish
vikan swivel - rubbish
salmon 15inch (same as fogwills) - very good
salmon 11inch - best brush we've used so far
ionics multipole brush - not bad but went curly after 3 days!
I've never been to bed with an ugly bird but I've woken up with loads!

Yep, that just about sums it up, horses for courses. personal preference & technique play a big part in brush choice. ;)

Vikan mono rectangular for me too, had a split pole hose today so changed poles and this one had one of the salmon on it.....wow....so crap, even though it was also mono the amount of bits that got trapped in the bristles was horrendous, good job i've fixed the split hose now so I can go back to the vikan ;D

Macmac..... how do you know what grade the vikans are???

It's best to ask, i have a flocked one from cleantech (medium) but ordered one from wintecs & the two are totaly different. the soft one is no good as an all round brush it just splays all over with no pressure on it, ok for wafer thin georgians though.

This is how i found out about it, as the two looked identical but are completely different in use. ;)

Vikan oval on my mini poles

salmon brush on my 18' & 24' pole

I also have a vikan oval on an 18' pole that I use on first cleans and upstairs windows that have big stone sills as the pole has a big metal gooseneck.

I love the salmon for its lightweight. If I do a 5 day week the wight is vital for me as when I used vikan brushes on all my poles when I went wfp, my hands swelled up and tingled all the time I also had constant upper arm pain mixed with tennis elbow. Its only when I put the salmon on my 18' poles that the pain went away.

So for me its a no brainer,Salmon upstairs, vikan downstairs.

after a couple or three cleans who cares ::)
i use vikan sill and oval
bentley(superlite)
salmon
and various diy jobs
if they have been done regular a bloody masonry brush will do the job
christ i could just spray the glass on 80% of em and scrub the odd bird turd and no one would notice ;D

To a point i agree with that,it`s lightness mainly once there up to scratch. From then on it is really only getting the water on the glass, with mono brushes though the water flows through the brush better leaving no bits behind.

I find the down side to salmon brushes is that they loose a lot of bristles in custys widow frames.
