Have any of you guys ever looked into the emptying of these bins.

One of my clients has 17 bins on site which are emptied every month, nearly £20 a pop. £350 every month for opening a few bins and popping the contents in a bigger bag. Sounds easy !

Seriously though, on behalf of my customer if there are 4 cubicles together does there have to be a bin in each or can one of them be highlighted that feminine bins are located here.
H&S requires commercial premises " provide an adequate means of disposal for sanitary waste" and "use a registered waste carrier" yet 100 million women can just flush down the loo at home.

Just for curiosity what is involved in becoming a registered waste carrier and how much would it cost to get that "bigger bag" incinerated.

Its easier to get PHS or a similiar company to do it for you, then add on your profit

ok then that looks like a good money maker,   but it isnt

got quote for emptying 7 for the year at £90 each,  for the price of deisel these days its not worth it.

You will need to speak to your local council about a licence and find out where in your area it can be taken.  There are alot of regs to how the waste is treated (it can only be transfered in a certain vehicle and can only be kept for x amount of hours before disposal etc) you can't put bags together either. 

It is worth doing this yourself if you know you are going to service alot of clients (don't forget the price of a bin approx £17 each) otherwise as suggested use someone like PHS (they are taking over the world!) lol

Get one of the specialist to do it. They'll be able to do it cheaper than you, try some smaller co's than phs - they are expensive and you dont get a great service. You should have no probs getting it less than half the price your client is currently paying, then add on a fiver per unit, you get £5 per unit for making a few calls and arranging the service contract, your client gets the bins emptied for £5 less than they are currently paying - as the politicians say - it's a win win situation

   What pricing structure are you doing bins at?  £5 per unit for what?

Sani bins get charged out on a weekly basis usually on a 12 month contract with 4 to 6 wks servicing.

Kevin says his client is being charged £20 per unit per month for what seems to be a once per month service. With a few phone calls to washroom co's he should be able to get the units installed and serviced for around £10 per month, (if not cheaper), if he charges £15 per month he will make £5 per unit per month and he gets to save his client £5 per unit per month.

Ah I see what your getting at now.  £20 a month per bin is mega expensive!!  I charge bins out at approx £8 per month and make a profit!  No matter what contractor you use you should be able to improve on that.

The first point is sorted, shop around and get them cheaper.
What about the 2nd point, must there be one in every cubicle or can you designate and label cubicles that contain a bin.

I will admit I am not entirely sure, however we service sites where there are two or three cubicles and only one bin, a notice is put on the wall saying that the femi unit is in middle unit etc.  The people who supply us with them have never said that legislation says you must have one in each cubicle so I have just continued with this.  Although I obviously try to sell for each cubicle!
