Just Quoted
« on: May 28, 2008, 11:01:28 pm »
I have just quoted £100 for this job for a clean and re-sand and customer says he will let me know.
Question is do you think I went in too expensive as I don't think I did.

Its not cheap.

should take about 40 mins to clean and 10 to re sand. Looks shiney, has it been sealed in the past? if so price goes up.

I would prob quote a bit cheaper to be honest (Good drainage, not weed/grass infested, easy area layout/access.) depends how much you want the jobs tho'

Nice easy job and Steve is right, would only be about an hour total for actual cleaning and resanding. Assuming of course you can sand on same visit which is unlikely as it will probably be too wet.

So if second visit is needed then £100 is about right.

I have a minimum charge of £100 anyway but that is by the by.

Hope the custy goes for it.

A guestimate from pic House frontage 6mtrs + 3mtrs added to side. Front parking is about a cars depth so say 5mtrs thats 45 sq mtrs. So £100 is about right. I would have said £98 sounds cheaper than £100
I'm always in the poo, it's just the depth that varies

In my opinion the whole exterior looks tired and I would clean the lot but the customer only wanted the drive at the front doing, hopefully IF I get the job for the driveway I may get the rest as I think me cleaning the driveway will only make the rest of it look bad.

By the way this job is just across the road from a job I did a couple of weeks ago and these jobs are from a leaflet drop I did

hmmm how would you get that done in 40mins, is it because there are no major weeds etc, and ten mins to re sand,

i must be doing something wrong

I run my gear out the van so,
5 mins set up time, 20-25 mins fsc over the top and 5-10 mins rinse and clean up. no grass and easy drainage is the key, but its mainly the grass which slows you down (going over again and again till it comes out).

I am only talking about the block not the concrete down the sides. Personally in burnley i think you need to be around the £80-90 mark to get it, im not saying you wont get it but it depends on what hit rate from your quotes you want.

I think on that job
100% at £60,
90% at £70,
80% at £80,
70% at £90,
55% at£100,

personally my price would be about £85 but i also make a judgment based on how the customer responds to me when i call round, if i thought  i might gett 100 then i would go for it, but i also know i will probably get more work off the first job so i often go a little cheaper to ensure i get it, then the next jobs are alittle dearer.  i decide if its 100 or 75 based on location to other work and how much i want it? I put it all in an equation and then pick a number out of the air (only joking), but thats roughly how i decide my price. It varies with my mood as well  ;D

Hi Mav,

many years ago I was told by someone much wiser than I  :o that it's not a good idea to quote in round figures....

When you said £100 to the customer they 'may' have thought you'd just plucked a figure out of thin air.

I was a Sales General Manager in a past life and we employed the tactic successfully on many occasions....as do 99% of shops as we all know.

good luck anyway and I hope you get the job.

Les  ;)

I would of said it would normally be  £145 but as i`m here i will do it for £95 , will apply weed control, clean and re-sand oh and give your wall a clean to top it off, bargain.
