Help & Advice Needed
« on: May 27, 2008, 09:21:42 pm »
Hi All

I've just been ask to price up a job which is quite a big one for us and would like advice on how to work the hours out as it's a big community centre. At the moment they have 4 cleaners doing different shifts through out the day.

3 cleaners doing 15hrs each a week monday to friday
1 cleaner doing 12hrs cover on the weekend

The manager showed me around and found most areas in a bit of a mess i.e- foors need scrubbing through out, walls need wiping down, some toilets need a bit of a deep clean, full dust as it hasnt been done for a couple of weeks, kitchens need a good clean, the Nursery needs some attention.............. and so on. I've told the manager that it would take time to get the community centre up to a high standard. We always start all our new contracts with a months trial but on this one I think to make a difference it would take a few more hours than stated. The Nursery starts early in the morning and they want it to be cleaned first then the rest of the commuity centre opens up after then shuts I think around about 6:30 pm.

If I could get rid of one and have it like this:

x2 part time
x1 full time

at least I'll get near full coverage during the day time

So I really need a hand with sorting the cleaners out on what time they start and finish.

Any help and advice would be great

Paul

How long have the existing staff been there, will you have to to TUPE them on to your books. Once they are your staff you can lay off, change hrs to your hearts content as long as you do it within the terms of your contracts with them.
Can't help with the timing of the contract but I would rather have more people doing less hrs. Much easier to re-arrange in the case of absence.
BE A WINNER
coming 2nd means you were 1st to LOSE

Hi

I've asked about that and their not, as 2 are going to be sacked & 1 might be put o there payroll and the other one I'll be keeping as the manager says she's a good little worker. I would like 3 part time cleaners instead now and my wife on doing the full time cleaning as it will work out better also better coverage through out the day. At the moment they have 57 hours a month on the cleaning BUT in my mind I think thats not enough as the jobs are not getting done and will have to justify this with the manager.
