help purifying water
« on: May 10, 2008, 12:22:42 am »
Hi,can anyone please advise me what is the best way to purify the water? Im just about to buy a shurflo backpack for about £175 or they do a starter kit at cleantech for £495 which comes with 40 psi pump,Di vessel and 18 ft pole. Would this be enough to start straight away? Do i need a ro unit? What does the di vessel do? Once i figure out how to purify the water i will be off and away so to speak. This will only be used for a small proportion of houses so dont want to start with trolley or van.  Wish i was more clued up on this but hey we all got to start somewhere. Any advice please.

You need to find out what your tds measurement of your tap water is.
If it is below 100, then I believe it is cost efficient to run di only. (Somebody will correct me if I am wrong  ;D )
My tap water is about 270 and I use a small ro filter, then di to purify the water.

Take a look at ro-man.com for ideas, or ring a supplier for advice.
Do all the good you can, and make as little fuss about it as possible.

My advise is invest for the future, look ahead at the bigger picture. Go for a van mount.

If you are living in a soft water area and only need di you can build it yourself.

Hi, I am perfect example of DIY believe me it's not rocket science this water purification. 8)

::) However having said that, my set-up works fine...not the best looking and certainly not the most expensive!

If I had to start again I would have bought a ready built, set up system.
Drive your van in inside pre-painted..they fit it in a day...DONE
Any problems you ring them for advice
EARN MONEY VERY NEXT DAY!
The amount of time I have had off doing this, adapting that...  :-\ but then I enjoy it!

What ever you decide to do ENJOY it it's only a job!  ;D  ;D  ;D
