Advertising in local community magazines
« on: May 07, 2008, 11:21:05 pm »
I was out the other day doing a rental property that was empty, and i came across one of these community magazines and scanning through it, it looked a good quality. Basically this one is delivered to 5000 homes and businesses every two months.

Inside there are articles for the residents and then there are the advertisers themselves. For a half page (A5 size page) advert is £70 while the full page is £130 in full colour, glossy pages etc.

If you had a leaflet professionally printed for you, you would pay around £90, then either post yourself or pay somebody, so i think that this is value for money. Customers lose leaflets whereby these books seem to be kept handy, and best of all, there are not 20 - 30 carpet cleaners in there like yp or Thompson, instead 2 or 3.

Does anybody on here use this type of advertising, and what do you think?

I have not posted on here for a long time, so nice to see Simon back. Is the Truck-Mounters website still going. I have forgotton both my signing in name and password, so perhaps Simon you would be kind enough to remind me?

I have always found those type of community booklets work very well, far better than yellow pages.

I am in about 5, got outside back cover in one. Some areas good responce, some exelent and others not a phone call in 4 months.
Just monitor it for 3 months and if you get no calls ether change your add and do it again for an other 3 month or pull it
Hope this helps

I started using the parish magazine that was delivered to our house, £20 p year, 11 issues, generates a call a month!

Now I ask local customers if they get one and take it away if I can so increasing the coverage, £ for £ knocks spots off free paper ads, people like the local bit.
Doing the best job in the world as well as I can

I find these ok. The ones I use are delivered monthly and the receipents tend to look through eah issue as it arrives - so it must be better than directories which go into a cupboard never to see the light of day maybe!
