some customers really are mental...now ive heard it all
« on: April 30, 2008, 06:36:17 pm »
grrrr, im off on holiday tommorow, had a good day window cleaning.

driving home, smiling, music on... ;D

phone rings

"hello"
"hello its mrs xxx from xxx"
"oh right yes"
"youve done my windows today whilst i was out"
"yes"
"i didnt want you to do them"
"why not?"
"because i was out"
(been doing these windows quite a while now!)
"yes...when you asked me to clean your windows, you asked for a regular service, i will clean them whether your in or out"
"no you wont, i dont want you to clean them when im out"

now this place is a little confusing, its ok for me because ive done it a few times, its a block of flats where 6 or so have their windows done out of 10. so you do one window, leave next and so on. i know my way round but a little confusing for my chap. anyway she lives in house next door and last time my chap didnt realise and left a couple, she came out and told him and he said "sorry its been a long day ill do them now"

so conversation carrying on

"well thats what a regular service is"
"anyway, the chap who was with you left all my windows out last time" (about 4 which he went and did anyway)
"but he came back and did them"
"yes but he said to me its been a long day so he just left them"

by this time im getting a little adjigtated

"right ok sorry about that"
"and im not happy about the windows"
"why..."
"theres streaks all over them"
"really, ill come back and do them again"
"NO i dont want you to come back again, ill find someone else"
"if your not happy ill come and re clean them"
"NO I DONT WANT YOU...you only use water dont you"
"yes thats right"
"well im not happy about it"
"oh thats funny, the 10 other customers have never said anything"
"and i didnt want them doing with all this rain we're having"

and this is the bit...now i have heard it all

"im going to find someone who is going to clean my windows when im in"
"right ok. ill come and put your windows right"
"NO ill send the money then ill find someone else"

all it came down to was i jumped her fence (i think) and she made up every excuse under the sun.

but shes going to find someone to do them when shes in!

i went round to collect from a bungalow last week
she looked at me gone out when i knocked for payment
"but we were away, how did you get in ???"
"i just reached over and unbolted the gate madam then bolted it again afterwards"

"you cant do that :o the reason we bolt it is to keep people out"
 ::)
that sort of threw me a bit and i could not think of anything to say
so just said sorry ,took money and left
i think next time if they are out i will leave a note saying
"sorry i missed you back in 6 weeks"

Nice one, there`s nothing better than cleaning that last window the day before you go.Pack away slam the back doors and relax, don`t think about work to much when your away it`ll still be waiting for you when you get back.

Make these customers a distant memory,i have.

Regardless of how many jobs you have together in an area, there is a cost incurred to go to each one. It might be small but there is still a cost.
Customers like this pee me off. What they really want is a labourer who will work for factory wages, when they want you. Even though they tell you they want you to come monthly or whatever, what they really mean is they want you to knock monthly and ask permission.  ::)
I've had only occasional success getting these customers to commit one way or the other. The reality with most like this is that they need to struggle to find a wc first before they stand any chance of being straight with one.

i am now telling customers the price is for the address so if the gates are locked the windows that are acessable will be cleaned and you will be charged the full amount so far all have paid up

I have a rule now, first sign of trouble and I drop them. Moaners never come good in the end, if its not one thing it will be another.
