Does Ettore UPVC Cleaner work?
« on: April 30, 2008, 03:12:41 pm »
I thought I'd test this product out on a very dirty pvc windowframe job tomorrow.

Does anyone use it?  Does it really work?

Or is it like fairy liquid alternatives?  ie. much of a muchness

it works, but sometimes you've got UPVC frames where the dirt is completely ingrained, actually discoloured the upvc, it took me a lot of elbow grease to get that out. It did make the upvc nice and shiny.

If you really need to restore a sill or something, get some 2000 grade wet and dry sandpaper, works well apparently.

Hi Pj

Just tried to show you the products that i use but i couldn't insert the link for some reason, i also found the ettore cleaner not that good especially how much it cost.

Screw fix no nonsense upvc cleaner is very good for every day dirt and grime and brings the white up very well. If you want something more potent everbuild solvent upvc cleaner is very good stuff, i get that from Carlisle Glass.

I used it, but didn't think it was very good.

I am sure that I read somewhere that JML make a good universal cleaner that someone used on upvc and it did a good job. It is available in places like woolworths.

Well I ended up using Thompsons UPVC Restorer.  I had an old bottle I just remembered.  It worked.  Bit like T Cut, easier though.  Good as new.
Thanks for the tips.  Always good to remember.
One fine fellow went the extra mile and gave me some Acetone which I had a good sniff of, but didn't use in the end. ;)
