I was going to use brush attachment and telescopic lance for roof etc and clean off with pressure washer at a very low pressure, shammy off then clean over with upvc cleaner. I cleaned the outside of one last week with no problem, don`t fancy doing the inside, might try and swerve that

need to be carefull you dont jet upwards as alot are only waterproof from rain falling downwards!

water leaks are not uncommon when pressure washers and conservatories meet  ;)

for that your looking near £350,

dont use a pressure washer under any circumstances

pole and brush with some tfr or hard surface cleaner are you best bet

insides are also a pain,

charge well or you will regret it for a job like that you looking at, at least £110 for just the outsides,

£110 !!!!! just for the outside???

10ft square round our way maximum £50 using waterfed pole to do glazing and struts.
I use an extendable pressure lance to do the finery at the top (ornate stuff on the apex).  As long as you are careful it is a lot quicker.
Outside done in under an hour including setup and packing up... and no chemicals!

Inside, I would personally avoid, but even to clean all windows and upvc it shouldn't take more than a couple of hours - £100 tops I would say.

If someone will pay £350 for this then I need to move areas.

If you can get this then fair play to you.

do you know how much the guys who put these up charge?

how much does it cost just to put them up in the first place,

how many people can actually do this job, and actually put it back to the way it looked when it was brand new? not many, but you can, your the expert

by the sounds of it, its a one off, if not and its part of a regular window cleaning round then the roof will be less,

but he is going to have to clean it and get rid of all the little bits that stay around, cleaning the gutters to perfection especially at that height isnt a quick whip or flash with a brush, and also the dirt underneath the sill can take a while to get out

insides are back breaking, all the merky water drops on you and you get hot sweaty etc etc etc, for £350 it will look brand new, not just what they could do with a sponge and a hose

I am just going to wash outside, get rid of green on roof with pole, wipe down inside, the ladies not too fussy, just an old dear who can`t do it herself. If i said £350 the poor thing probably wouldn`t see the summer.I told her £150 and i`ll jet her patio for her so she doesn`t slip on the algae,if i spend half a day on it  i`m happy, she`s happy.

its not me that can charge it, its you, if its a one off you need to take you time and make it look a million dollars

have you ever done the inside of a con roof?

With the right kit, the inside of a conservatory roof of this size should take no more than 30-40 minutes, then the windows and upvc another hour or so.

I have been cleaning conservatories as part of my business for over 3 years and I could no way justify to myself charging the customer £350 for what should be a 3 hour job inside and out.

I go back to the same customers year after year now so they must be happy with the job I do.

I can only assume that for this kind of money, you manage to make the job last all day.
Just because it is a one off doesn't mean you have to milk the job for everything you can get from it.  If the price is reasonable the customer is more likely to have it done more regularly and recommend you to friends.

Just my opinions and of course you can charge and make a job last as long as your concience will allow.

i agree completely with what you are saying,

i was mainly basing it on a one off job, making it look brand new, and yeah pretty much making a day out of it,

it did one job it was quite a large con and under priced, oh my it was middle of summer and i was doing it inside and inside dont get really dirty just really black, and spotty, and it was on all the panes of glass and blinds. i will never do one and price it up as a day rate again, i dont know how much water i lost that day through sweat lol.

on my window cleaning round the cons i clean regularly are all £ 70 i appreciate it can differ from north to south, reason i price it like that is because there is a certain amount of risk involved cleaning one and not damaging it, also if i rush to get it done, im more likely to trip up the hose fall from the ladder etc etc,

i like to take my time and when i walk away i can feel proud that i have one again defeated the green  :P

Dear All,

I have been cleaning conservatory roofs for about 3 years now. The ideal way of cleaning them is to use pure water with a waterfed pole. In general pure water eats up algae in no time a good rinse and no need to dry. Please do not jet wash for fear of breaking the seal and cause costly expense to yourself. On stuborn algae you can use a product called "Dynax" from Amtechuk or a multi-purpose jet wash fluid from Halford and rinse well with pure water.

On the price front I have found that most window cleaner do not know how to price a job, it seems to a matter of guess work hence the extreme of prices in the comments I have just read.

Your price should reflect, the size of the job, what you want to urn per hour and how safe it is(if you are still using ladders).

It is absolutely crucial to have a price structure. I soon learned how important this is.

Here in mid-sussex I charge the following:

cons. roof £1.50 - £2.00 per section

Top windows
plain windows £1.65 per ladder movement
leaded windows £1.75       "            "
georgian windows £1.80 - £1.90

Second floor windows
add 25% - 30% as it needs footing and it's more dangerous.

Ground floor
charge per panel
plain windows £0.60 - £0.65
leaded wndows £0.65 - £0.70
georgian windows £0.75 - £0.80

Should you be challenged by the home owners you can show them how you got to that figure.

Do not be frightened of quoting high. Do a good job too. Present yourself professionally.

I have seen my average price per house grow from £8.00 to £32.00 with a turn over of £50k per year and that's just working on my own.

Hope my comments will be usefull to many of you.

My background in logistic management has been useful.

Safi that works out at £24/hour given that you never drink tea, eat, chat or take a day off, You need to clean 30 houses @ £32/week  or .75/hour AND it obviously never rains where you are ! I' be surprised

I only clean 8 to 10 houses per day. Work only 6hrs per day.
I work sunshine or rain. As I said you need to adopt a professional outlook to window cleaning.

Public services work whether it rains or not, few of my customers question me working in the rain.
Have you ever asked yur customers why they clean their cars in the winter then drive them immediately on dirty roads?

If you do the math I achieve £240 - £300 per day or £1200 - £1500 per week. I average £40 - £50/Hr

Greatest obstacle is the window cleaner. If you know what you want to earn, go and get it. And i don't mean a one off high price clean, but regular income from the same customer.

I no longer use ladders I have a reach and wash pure water system. With it a 3 bedroom house is cleaned in about 15 minutes.

Have you estimated the potential life value of each customer.

Do not think that cheap price give you more work. Money begets money. Why work hard when you can work smart!!!
Also invest in new technology.

Try and take a business start up course. It has help me a lot.
It pains me to see people struggling.

Safi

try the car valeters suppliers - they do a spray on wax that you can just spray on from a pump sprayer
