The other day I was looking through an old Franchise Mag and sae an advert from My Home which i believe is a domestic cleaning service operationg in the London Area.

In the advert they claim that the Domestic Cleaning Market is worth 9 billion.


If so that is more than the Music industry.


In the same mag I also saw a claim that the Contract Cleaning Market is worth 3.1 billion We have talked about that before. Since I posted this earlier this morning I have read acording to another Franchise company that Contact Cleaning is woth 3.9 million


However 9 billion I find hard to believe. If so the potential must be tremendous


Is there anyone from My Home on the board, or anyone else with knowledge on the size of the domestic cleaning market,

Can't believe it has gone up so drastically?

the potential for the cleaning industry is massive yet not everybody wants to do it (thankfully!) It is as Martin says 'there is loads of work out there for everyone'

lets be sensible about this irrespective of the figure whether it be 3 0r 9 that are both pretty big figures.

the question is what type of cleaning is being quoted. just looking at domestic house builders, the annual domestic build clean market as a ball park is probably worth in excess of £70 million.  then add onto that the commercial build clean sector.

I'll be happy at about £450k per year.  And if that seems greedy  then i  dont apologise.

the truth is, this industry is a tool for you to enjoy your life, thats all, we all know what we need to earn per year, and then we should all know what we want to earn.

set yourself the goal, manage the business correctly to a size that you are comfortable with, and there you go.

I think the figures are for cleaning as a whole from domestic to commercial.

When I was researching the domestic cleaning industry in 2003, I came across a figure which put domestic cleaning at £40bn. I got all excited about that until I realised that the figure included dry cleaning, laundries, soap powders and sales of other cleaning products.

I made provision for a modest income from domestic cleaning in my sales forecasts, at around 10% of total anticipated income. I've been running for about eighteen months now, and I've had four domestic cleans in total, one of whom moved without paying. Still, at least it's made a contribution to my £4000 ninja, used perhaps ten times since I bought it a year ago...

Callum, picked up a P plate ZX6R on Thursday, this is my second bike, the first was a gpz500,  Wow the difference between the two!!!

only downfall the weather since thursday, horrendous.

the good thing about builders cleans, is that most sites close at 4.30 therefore can get out a bit in the summer and blow the cobwebs out.

Going back to these Franchises it is good to see that both Martin and Callumn have created for themselves £150K plus turnoverd in aprox a year without help from Franchise providers.

I gather Martin was in Sales before he started so probbably had a large contact book to work on

i can honestly say that none of my current business is directly linked or indirectly to my previous role.  the direction is a completely different one from that of daily office cleaning.

my current business activities are completely from a standing start.
