what perks do you get offered
« on: April 16, 2008, 11:59:18 pm »
im away for this weekend ( yes another weekend away before any1 says  ;D ;D )

whilst taking to a customer i mentioned where i was off to, a haven site ( mainly as my daughter loves the childrens entertainment ) we stay in a gold 3 bed static caravan ( gold are under 2 years old ) they cost th emost, but they have allways been nice and for a weekend away they are ideal

anyways, this customer says " you dont have to stay in a caravan, come and stay in my hotel "

i clean the windows for his, its a 1 and 1/2 drive for me, but it pays well, its a really smart place, they also serve "afternoon tea" its that type of place

i politely turn him down, and explain its not where we are going, its the entertainment for my daughter

he didnt understand it and i think took offence to me declining his offer

what perks do you get from your customers

I have been offered payment "in kind" by one customer.

I didnt even ask what that meant, I just said we only accept cash or cheque.

I think she wanted to with a bottle of wine or something.  ::)

I was given some runner beans out of the customers garden last year. A bottle of red wine but the customer spoilt it by saying someone gave it to them but they don't like red wine.

On the payment in kind question, I started window cleaning with my mate Steve thirty five years ago on Saturdays for spending money. We worked on the South Ruislip Estate and Steve would go  "missing" all the time.
Thats what it was like in the seventies, but I am not talking about yummy mummies, oh no, a lot of the women on that estate in those were dog rough.

Two weeks ago one of my customers was doing a clear out of her garden shed, When we started to clean her windows she said " I'm throwing that branch sredder out so if you want it you can take it......

I did ask if it worked cos last year another customer offered me a lawn mower and said it only need a fuse, But it didn't work.

So any way I took the sredder home plugged it in and guess what.... It didn't work

I played about with it and their is a safety bolt on it and you need to bolt it down tight for it to work and hay presto

It worked, About £100 or so they are....

I did get offered a printer list week and a sink waster thinge megig, But never took it.

So my list so far is....

Tree sredder
Lawn mower ( didn't work)
bottles of wine
beer
TV
Coffee table
drawings for an old lady (doodles)
Money
Apples and Pears ( No not stairs )  Fruit

When your windows are clear, My conscience is clear...

I got offered discount (not free, alas) van rental the other week..... which is surprisingly useful as I'll be moving in a few months.

I hope the taxman doesn't see this thread, all your gifts  are taxable, and before you start saying there not, Just ask at any tax office.

one of my older customers was a ' mr universe ' 50 years ago .
he has a gym annexe at his house , and gave me some free coaching !
he was a very nice man , and insisted on paying for the window cleaning , and refused payment for his personnel training.

years ago i stayed at a beautifull country cottage for a long weekend , owned by a customer , who also refused any payment.

A customer invited my self and wife to her Ruby wedding anniversary.

This was a huge party 750 guest and cost 3 million for the day.

It was an Indian theme and 3 times bigger than Dave Beckhams.
