i have the evolution wand on loan at the moment, it's the 16" that was at wolverhampton, i have been using it whenever i can bearing in mind it is 16" wide. it's good. very light, it has a slotted glide on it so it picks up all sorts of c**p on the carpet but is easy to push/pull, the 16" has a 2" vac tube so with a truck mount it SUCKS and i mean that in a good way!!! the head is quite large as it is an all in one constuction, the down side to that is that it's not always easy to get under say low radiators, the wand head gets in the way, but if that's a worry, it only takes a couple of secs to change to say a stair tool to reach under there and most radiators are well off the floor anyway. personally i like a hybrid glide and i don't know if they are available or indeed the price of a new glide. the wand does 'give' a little on some carpets and that feels odd but it doesn't feel like it would break at all. the only real downside to the 16" wand that has 6 jets is that there is no splash guard and the outer jets don't seem to reach the full width of the wand, this could be a problem when it comes to rinsing up to the skirting board, i have been turning the wand at an angle to spray and then rinse or hitting the edges from full on as it were. i don't know about this issue with the other wands in the series, ie the 1.5" vac tube models.
some of the lads at the sdo said that it compared favourably with their ti wands regards weight, ie it is very light
all in all i think it is a very good wand and i hope that john gott, hydramster, has forgotten i have the wand on loan!!
