I ve been cleaning window for about a year now in the traditional way and im starting to find that the windows leave either a smear on the window or a slight haze. If i go over it again with the squeege it normally goes away. So i guess it must be the scrim i use. I have bought some new ones but they leave fluff on the windows instead. The most reliable are tea cloths or pot towels (depending on what part of the country you live). I have tried hand washing them with bar soap in case it was the detergent that was causing it. Ive tried detergent in a washing machine. But still it happens. Any ideas?
Does anyone know if there is such a thing as good quality glass, and poor quality glass. It just seems that some windows will shine really easily while others you have to work very hard on.
if the glass it in sunlight it pulls moisture out of the scrim and leaves hairs, I now use microfibre cloths and you dont get them.
Only as said boil scrims or put on hot wash when your wife is not looking, no saop no powder nothing.
an idea that I use to break in scrim is to use as sill cloths this breaks them up so they soak water in better, I found theat micro fibrecloths can be used straight out of the packet, but take a little getting used to, if all else fails bin the scrim and go wfp
