SUPERVISORS

Hi
Just wondering how many of you have supervisors? My question is do they have their own work load plus cover other duties or do you pay them just to check on work restock etc. I am trying to work out which way is best as the office works seems to get more and more each month.
If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.
Many thanks
Julia

I have a supervisor that works on a part time basis for me, she has proved invaluable in the last 9 months and has a fantastic manner with clients, she really has taken the pressure off. I pay her purely to check on contracts although in this game a lot of her time can be taken up covering jobs or looking after new ones until they are filled.

Hi Chris
Thanks for your reply.
You say part-time is that 16 hours per week or less?
What sort of salary would you pay as? If you uncomfortable answering the latter question I understand. I hope I haven't offended by asking you.
I am struggling so much trying to keep on top of all the paperwork, wages, files, invoicing etc and trying to cover all the cleaning if someone rings in sick or is on holiday.
Just not sure how to go about sorting this problem out.
Thanks for the help you have given.

Hi Julia,
she does on average around 14-20 hours, I pay her an hourly rate that includes her petrol, its not that long ago i was in the same position as you and realised i couldn't physically do everything myself so it really was the only road to go down, she also brought in a couple of contracts which in effect payed her way....

Hi Julia, I currently have four full time Supervisors. 2 are Area Supervisors, responsible for covering work, deliveries, training new staff, extra jobs (carpet cleans etc). The other 2 are Operations Managers and check, check, check. They will also clean when we need them to but mainly, they help me run the Ops side of the business. As we grow we employ more Area Supervisors, in vans to help with the workload etc.
Hope this helps, if you need any more info please let me know.

We run ours slightly different, we have one member of staff who is the superviser and we pay her accordingly. Her extra duties are to check the standards of work and cover holidays/sickness with us. Thats it.
This has worked well for both us and the employee.
