IT HELPS TO SELL YOURSELF....WHEN YOU DO LEAFLETS OR CANVASSING ...THE POTENTIAL CUSTIE CAN LOOK ON YOUR WEBSITE FOR INFO....AND CAN ALSO PAY ONLINE :)

For those that have had a web site for a while, do you think it has brought
in much business?

Or just helped you get your information across to the customer?

Or helped in any other way?

Ewan  :)
A website IMO is meant to get you new customers and can also be a payment gateway.

I do well from my site always have done. (thats not being big headed at all just being honest.

IMHO, people will ask a neighbor to reccomend a window cleaner.  Websites are like bung-holes, everyone seems to have one and they all stink.

There are already 8 web sites for every man, woman and child on the planet.  Unless you have a hugely compelling reason for wanting a website (selling internationally, e-commerce etc) I would use the cash you would pay for a website to buy some professionally printed leaflets and get new customers that way.

Just my opinion.

I am in the process of having one built.

The way i see it is, if you cover every possible way of attracting customers, you cant really go wrong.

All my customers will be told about my site, and possibly when surfing they will have a look, and realise that i do other services they can take advantage off!

I was against getting a site untill customers and future custies actually asked me if i had one or if they can pay online!!!

I also have 5k leaflets a month going out this year, advertising my conservatory cleaning and window cleaning, and im sure when custies see before and after pics, they will be interested in calling for a quote!

My next step will be yellow pages, although a lot on here have negative feedback on it, i will prob try it, if just to rule it out in future.

This is my 3rd year, and for the record, my whole business has been built solely on leaflets, van sign written and recommendations and i am now getting near to needing to employ!!

If your not up to capacity as yet, i would spend your money on leaflets, then concentrate on a site!

I have one, its the cheapest form of advertising around its 24/7 all about you the way you want it, newspapers are read then trash the next day ... gone, Radio is 10,20 secs then gone, only 5% of leaflets get read then there trash too
Get a website put the web add on all your letterheads business cards & the van , the back of the wifes car .. everywhere, people wont look at it if you dont tell them the address

Well, i'm mister negative, so i don't have one and i'm not desperate for one. I think for a large company they are nessesary but for a small sole trader probably not. Mind you if my son was to get out of bed and make one i wouldn't say no. :)
