Does anyone use paypal for payments ? i have looked into this and they charge 3.4% plus .20pence per a payment.
Anyone know of a cheaper way through the internet as i would like to start adding this option as a payment method

I give mine my account no and sort code and they pay directly via phone bank or transfer.
I don't use paypal as their charge is not too bad, but it takes 9 working days to clear your money!

Paypal charge is just another business expense IMO I would rather get paid quick than have alot of outstanding payments, I dont get many on paypal, mostly diect bank transfer, I try and make it as easy as possible to pay.

i wouldn't be without my paypal method, so many people are using it now, its quick and easy for the customer

I would rather be paid quickly by paypal than have a list of customers running up debts. Yes you have to pay the costs for using it but your accountant will take for the bank charges when filling out your tax return anyway. If you go collecting evenings.... it costs time (unpaid time at your hourly rate), plus fuel costs, plus wear and tear on your vehicle. If you leave a SAE with a stamp on it costs money, then you have to go to the bank and pay it in which costs time and money. Whatever way you look at it, it costs money to collect your money .....unless you're paid cash on the door whilst you're cleaning.

Its quite simple as stated, get your customers to pay direct via number and sort code, as this is the way most companies make payements they will think it very run of the mill and more proffesional.

A long time ago I used to charge for it, I dont any more I want them to pay any way that is quick and easy for them.

i take paypal, but with few customers, most of the others are too old and wouldnt have a clue. I dont mind the charges, but i hate the waiting a week for it to go into your bank. I usually end up spending it on gear online, rather than sending to the bank. I dont know of any cheaper sites that are as well known quick and easy as paypal. Bet they make their millions every day though.

All but 6 of my accounts pay directly into my bank account via internet transfer....so very easy....mon, wed , fri I log into my internt bank account and then load up george the just take the customers off that have paid..

Easy to see who has paid....each line on the bank summary screen has customer name, postcode and address....and of course that magic money amount put in.

So far I have never been out of my house to go collecting...sure I have bank charges but work out the difference between getting in car travelling (fuel) using time outside of working hours...(my family time)  and there is no competition...internet banking all the way....

I have used Paypal for about 6 months, but only one customer has ever used it. Having said that, most of my customers are elderly and I don't think they use computers.
