RO SET-UP AND FINALLY WORKING AT LAST BUT...
« on: March 17, 2008, 08:56:26 pm »
are these readings what you would expect.....

With pump (finally sorted it) Pressue now 77PSI pre filter 75PSI out of filter.

Producing 1 ltr of pure every 30 seconds

Waste 1 ltr every 10 seconds

TDS 333 in 13 out but that keeps going down 1 tds evrey 10 mins as sysytm is new (40 x 40)

Not connected to DI can yet but do these readings look OK or should some be higher  / lower on average??

Thanks

What is your pressue before filters??
Have you got a 4040?

My Wp is so bad that I was getting 1 lt in 1:30 with TDS of 50 !!  Hope to get it below 10 after a few more hours using new system.

yes that's a 40 40 I think my tap pressure is about 45 psi but when the pumps on it goes above 100
the pump is inline after the pre filters but before the membrane. my waste is set at about 2 pure to 1 waste

Pump is a clarkes 240E.  I had major problems as my water pressue was 10 PSI !!  Is your vale set at near shut off??  I am about 5 mm away from total shut off of RO (valve handle nearly horizontal).

I may try shutting off valve more and see if a can get 50/50 pure to waste.

Its probably a different type of valve I just measured the waste to pure ratio recommended on here somewhere and altered the valve to suit, I have the ro-man 2000 from gardiner poles perhaps Alex will throw some light on things tomorrow. I would try things at 50 50 and see how well its working then.

I am getting 25% pure at the figures a quoted but have not experimented  yet.  I am a bit worried about closing off the valve too much (I've been told that is a NO NO!!)  I'll try and have a play tomorrow and see if I can close of valve a tad more to get 50/50.  Pressue will probably go to 90 which is obviously ok.

With mine it recommends 4 waste to 1 pure but I think that really is playing things cautiously I'm on a meter so have to offset the price of a membrane against my water usage.

In that case i'm spot but I do seem use a lot of water.  Not on a meter but may even consider using water butt or IBC under down pipe to harvest water.  To fill my 650 static tank will take nearly 6 hours of tap on.

Bit confused what you mean by that?  That's producing pure for 650ltrs .  Presume flusing is when  valve is fully on with no pure being produced??  If so how often should I do that and for how long??

it  should take about 1 or 2 minutes to drop to 000.... not 1 digit every ten minutes.

That's from RO and before DI.  Gaps water said it will take a few hours to run in the RO and I will get better TDS as I use it more for the first week.  This appears to be happening.  I can't see it going less than 7 or 8 from RO but most ROs don't seem to produce 000 hence need for DI canister.

What is yours from RO pre DI?

Mine is 13 now but after a few more goes I hope it will be in single figures as is new.

you should have two valves on your ro system 1 to alter the pure to waste ratio and another so you can flush the membrane which cleans it and should be done for about half an hour after each refill,
perhaps one of the suppliers would be able to explain it better than me though.

I only have one valve.  When it is fully open  the system is being flushed as all the water is going to waste.  As I close the valve the RO starts to build pressue and the pure water starts to be produced.  I have to have the valve 80% closed before pure is produced. Got mine from gaps
