using mobile phone to control pump
« on: March 17, 2008, 09:43:45 am »
bit of a crazy idea..........
i scrub with a low water output and rinse with high output
its a real drag to keep adjusting the flow controller
otherwise id use twice as much water
i find using valve on the hose taxes the pump and battery

what about a phone on the hip   press call
the other phone connected to flow controller instead of ringing
activates the pump to go faster
press another time on the hip phone and it goes back to slow output
it dont cost anything    might be a simple operation to connect phone to pump
might have to wait 3 sec

would a remote control not be easier ?

You can get remote central locking kits off ebay,... look for one with 300mtr range and it'll work fine,.. its all 12V and comes complete with actuators that could be rigged to the flow controller dial.

jigwan i invented this a few years ago, its very simple, and you use your own car remote control, it works perfectly, use the large long padle switch not the short one, this was my mk1 now mk2 is much better,  ;D

If you have to move your hand to find the phone then the right button, then surely it's just as easy to move your hand and adjust a valve? Or have i misunderstood the post as usual?

quicker with valve  maybe not an accurate flow rate unless you carefully fiddle with the valve
my point was  if valve is used and partially blocks flow - the pump is running high  batt energy is wasted

great idea man  i got to get my head around it
certainly looks feasable      the poor mans remote
just weiging up the pros an cons of your method compared to the remote kits can get off ebay

£168   looks like effective
might be able to find a device which does the same thing for £20 or less
considering the time saved using even this device, a pile of money will be earnt

I never have to go back to van, I have an eco flow and a tap on the end of hose so just turn it up or down when I need it

What about a gas tap or a trigger at the pole no need to go back to adjust then you already have it to hand.

i have an ecoflow  and a sureflow pump, can I do away with the pressure switch like you do with a varistream? remember Luke posting here recently about it, still had his switch wired, changing vans this week and want to know if ecflow works same way?

you could do the same thing with a bit of wiring up of a car remote central locking thing, my brother fitted a cheap remote start to his mini cooper and that worked well over 300 ft away. Would cost about 25 and about 30 minutes to make but why do you need it, i just have pump varistream, tap on the end, and just hold the tap in my hand with the pole, i usually have the tap almost closed for cleaning, then full blast for rinsing.
