I find that if I have taken over a new job that hasn't been cleaned in a while or had a naff window cleaner before, it can take a few cleans to get the sills right. But once they get a good regular wfp'ing they will pretty much stay clean.

It's also expectations from the customer too. Are they expecting every single teensy piece of dirt to be removed or are they being realistic (same with the windows), no matter how good you are a funny customer can find a problem somewhere.

Perhaps ask her nicely if she can show you a sill from the inside upstairs that is bad so you can learn and improve. Worth a try and it may help you see where you are wrong...or see if the customer is pointing at microscopic dirt and complaining!

i always turn the flow off when doing sills as i find you blow out more crap with the water on, and you can leave them looking dirty

i always warn the customer just before i leave that even though i have cleaned
the sills that they will more and likely bleed more dirt out from between the frame
and the sill. i explain could take a few cleans to progressively clean the gaps out
they always seem happy with that.

I find this a bit of a problem. I clean the windows and rinse them. Upstairs I cant see how the sill looks. Downstairs i can. I wipe off downstairs sills. I lost a customer because (and this is an edited quote believe me) "I was washing all the crap onto her window sills." It is an upstairs flat. What was she looking at? The beautiful view from from window or the sill?

Same here too.

One of the four custies I lost complained at the WFP washing dirt onto the sills. The dirt was comming from between the frame and the sill. It was a poorly paying job that I was glad to see the back of quite honestly.

Their new trad cleaner is now talking about making the change to WFP so they may well be back to square one before long.

Ditto & get no complaints ;) well, the very odd sill i may wipe with a cloth after if it's very bad.

I don`t go overboard on the frames and sills either and get no complaints,i think it`s a case of being observant and making sure nothings going green lol.A lot of WC`s say it and i beleive it to,the majority of people want a WC and if there getting there windows cleaned on a regular basis there happy.

niiiiiiiiiiiiiice

I think if you over-sell the whole- clean frames/sills etc with wfp you're making a rod for your own back a lot of the time & leave the customer expecting too much. Apart from trials, i've never cleaned a frame or top frame in 4 years wfp & not one custy has ever said anything or requested it done. On the odd occasion (trial) i have done it, it seems to cause more problems that it's worth- contaminating brush, dirty runs from top etc. Like i said, if the dirty sill sticks out like a sore thumb then i'll give it a quick wipe with a cloth, other than that i don't bother.
