For the last 2 years i have been working with a friend.  Ive basically been subin most of the work of him and been getn very little money.  Ive added on at least £2500 a month of new work to his round thinking it was both of ours. Anyway cut a long story short i wasnt getn anywere doing wot i was doing and have went out on my own, luckily enough i bought a round 2wks ago, it isnt the best work but its a start.  Just very disheartened at the minute as i feel like the last 2yrs of hard work have been for nothing.

Stick with it buddy. If you've had the experience of adding that much money to his round, just wait til you've achieved it all for yourself and there's no-one to have to share it with!

good luck mate in 2 yrs time you ll look back at today and wonder what you were worried about.any one who can pick work up like you have won t struggle for long.if you need any advice or help don t hesitate .

Look at the past 2 years as experience, gained knowledge etc.  Start as you mean to go on.  you are now the boss.  you have a round on which to build.  Good luck m8.

It hasnt been for nothing.

The experiences you have had are priceless and you will probably grow an even stronger and successful business because of it.

Just look to get better work than you had with the other guy , then you will be on to a winnner.

You could go an see a solicitor on this.

If you had a understanding with your mate about the WC work
I would have though, you have a case.

A Solicitor would laugh at you (or should I says you have no chance) so dont bother on that (no offensive to who put that by the way) , take it as a learning curve, you have the knowledge now, use it to your advantage, we all get down at some point and alot do at the start it is path of the course, keep at it and it will come good, hard work really does pay off

Keep your chin up mate. I know what it feels like to have something like that happen to you and its not nice at all. I worked for a guy with his sons, there was three of us to start and by the time I left there was 15 of us and 2 water fed pole machines in the company. When I started we worked from 7am until 3pm, when I left I was working 5am until 7pm everyday. In the end I said that I had to be home to mind my children while my wife done an evening shift in a factory. He started getting fun and giving me even more work. I got a written warning for not doing all my work so I went to citizens advice, who told me to speak to him in private and explain that he had it wrong. I did this which just made him even more spiteful until one morning he give me two days work and told me to work through it. I left bought a roof rack and went  canvassing. A year on and its been an up and down affair but now I'd say I have 90% of a round and am looking into getting a second van for my employee.

Remember not to let anything get you down, I love what I'm doing now and wouldn't give it up for the world. I even went canvassing a few times with my gear in the back and if people accepted the quote I'd do it there and then save sitting at home.

same happend with me around 6 years ago , i built up loads of work arond £3000 per month and ended up with nothing but i look back now and im pleased it did happen . im now working as a sole trader and i love what i do . good luck to you mate all good things come to those who wait , get stuck in and you will do well

Why not canvass the areas you originally picked up the work and if the customers you picked up see you in the area I am sure they would be happier getting you to clean there windows if you have already been cleaning them for 2 years.

What I like is that your comments have been fairly measured Tags. You haven't gone in for name calling or pointless anger. You come across to me as someone with the character and resilience to make a success of your situation.

I accept though that the next few months could be tough without an immediate income. Are you a wfp user? do you have finance for a van and system?

Thanks for your honest opinion and kind comments Mr Solubility.  I am trad at the moment, have my own van and all my own equipment.  Im hoping to move into waterfed poles in the next 8-10 weeks as its the way forward.

youll be sound tags,keep it a one man operation cleaning all the windows yourself,that way you know they are being cleaned properly-i will help you switch to wfp and show you the pros and cons,as you know you i am packing up so thats one less w/c in the area-also the brighter nights are coming which means plenty of canvassing-i will show you a few good spots where hopefully you will pick up some decent work and any calls i get i will pass them on to you--my experience is if you do every window perfect you will rarely lose any customers,just gain them
