What is the best resin to buy and where would you recommend to buy it.

Any Virgin resin, not regenerated. Virgin lasts a lot longer, unfortunately I forgot the names of them.

Ebay has it, but I'm sure someone will mention the names of the virgin brands.

Is that the same as purolite?? Is purolite better than those as a few keeps saying how good it is??

Any experience with purolite?

Purolite tends to be regenerated so will not last long as virgin resin.

Been there tried it and was going through a bag every 2 months, now only use a bag every 6 mnths

Just for the record Purolite is NOT regenerated. It CAN be regenerated - big difference!

Foxmen this comes from a source within the resin industry,the question was asked to them why such a huge difference in performance. I did have the specs but cannot find it at present.

If you look at this advert on ebay you will see the person is not misleading his customers and informing them that it has been regenerated

On the other hand they may also make a batch that is not regenerated, I for one would like to know how you can tell. There must be something on the bag to indicate it. Let us know if you can identify which batches are regenerated and which are virgin.

DA, Purolite only make virgin resin. Look below from their website:-

Purolite® MB400   

Mixed Bed Exchange Resin

Purolite MB400 is a high quality resin mixture for direct purification of water. It is suitable for use in regenerable or non-regenerable cartridges and in large ion exchange units. Passage of water at recommended flow rates through the resin as supplied can achieve almost complete reduction of total dissolved solids. The residuals produce average conductivity values of about 0.1 µs cm-1 for a major portion of the service run which may be extended depending upon the final water quality acceptable. Equivalent volumes of ultra pure water may be obtained after regeneration but only if sufficient regenerant quantities are employed to achieve the percentage conversion levels equivalent to those of the "as supplied" resin. Generally acceptable capacity and quality is obtained economically at lower regeneration

The guy on ebay may is regening it himself, not Purolite. It sounds like 'source within the resin industry' is full of it

I have used in the part Rohm and Haas and seems a good resin.

At the moment using gardiners Bayers mixed bed resin which i like as they do it in nice 5lrt containers which does me as i don't use a lot

Foxman must apologise but yes Purolite resin is virgin, what does not help is when you have specs on the net stating the otherwise which can lead to confusion http://www.derwentwatersystems.co.uk/mb400.html

There is a huge difference in perfomance though, and what I would advise people is not stick to the same constant resin but find out wich works best for them. You will them be surprised at the difference between them which I have found and others that there can be a difference of double the performance on some products. It is entirlely your choice what you use but for me money counts , so spending around £160 a year on one product compared to £400 is a huge saving for me.

Each company will have data sheets etc.. on performance which I have seen and was surprised at the difference. However sorry I cannot disclose this as I am bound not to, as this information can then get back to the manufacturers. The information is from a lab and once you start to undertsand the scientific data then you start to understand, don't ask me to explain it , took me a long time to understand.

In summary keep trying and you will find out which is best and value for money. Trust me you will be surprised and I am not stating that Tulsion is better than everything on the market as I have not tried all apart from Purolite and Rohm.
