Copper immersion heater & pure water?
«

Just thinking of putting a copper immersion heater in my ibc to heat it before transferring it to my truck. Can anyone see a problem with it. Will the pure water eat the copper, or will the copper dissolve into the pure water.
Immersion heaters will heat it up to about 60 C if need be. You can get them for under £20.

yes hot water and copper cause higher tds. Go do a reading with your hot/cold tap, the hot will have a higher reading generally, Luke

Cheers Luke
I'm having a new boiler fitted today and the plumber seemed to think it would be ok, thought I would check before I got one.
How about something like this

An Incoloy immersion heater. Apparently it doesn't leach into the water and still dirt cheap. What do you think guys.

If the plumber has fitted a new boiler for you today, do you have the old immersion heater element? if so leave in in some pure water and check the tds over a period of time.

The old cylinder didn't have a heater. Good idea though. I've got a Incoloy immersion from B & Q, see how it goes, I'll check the tds before I transfer it, if it don't work then never mind.

ive thought of getting a normal element and having it powder coated ( which should withstand the heat )
