Hello to you all,

I have been reading the archives and found this forum very interesting

My husband and I are very fed up with our current jobs and are looking into going self employed doing window cleaning.

I will be the one to set up the business and my hubby will continue working until such times he might be able to give the boss the elbow

and join me.
I have a few questions to put to you guys is:

Are there any females on this forum?
How are women viewed at doing this kind of job?
Any suggestions for a newbie on how to start?
bearing in mind I have only ever cleaned my own windows, with vinegar water and newspaper :

women r great .

you will get on fine ,but its not easy .dont let anyone tell you otherwise.

there are advantages being employed as there are being selfemployed.

ie im at home with a bad back .and i dont get paid

on the other hand i earn a good wage for a relatively easy job.

go through the threads ,and go out with a wc to see what its really like .

hi rosa,i am one of those said female window cleaners.Its great(apart from the cold weather)You will find some custys prefer approaching a lady than a man!I left a minimum wage stressfull job 18 months ago and have never looked back!

Rosa - you will probably find that the forum posts cover most questions you are likely to have. Ask away about anything you're not sure of. Most here are happy to help.

Keep your ear to the ground and find out areas that don't have a reliable window cleaner. Canvass those areas first. Don't worry if you find a road has someone working it. Try the other end. Many roads have 2 or more people doing a few each.

Once word gets about that you do a good job and are reliable, you'll get work.

I used to work with my wife. Was a bit cold for her in the winter so she packed in bless her.

Was good though. Said I didn't pay her well enough. - Rubbish.

Customers trust women more.

Tend to natter too much like.

My wife works with me part time. Finds the cold hard, excellent window cleaner (better than me).

Women are usually very good at the personal touch - custy's like that.
