Well said that man. I've got one (35ft) and it's very very good. Not perfect, but then nothing is, the huge plus point has to be it's lack of weight yes you CAN jam the tubes, two of us on here have done it although mine came apart with advice from Alex. It's pretty strong but will chip if you abuse it. Stay clear of the Superlight1 and only buy the Superlight 2 unless your very gentle. They are not as strong as aluminium and can break (i've done it) but for three storeys and above there is nothing to beat it in my opinion.
ps the Superlight 2 is NOT a fishing pole it was designed purely for window cleaning. ;)

I've seen advice from the man gardener to apply wd40, tape and a whole load of other crap.

His Name is Alex, and he never said apply wd40 or tape or any other things ( except what is in the manual ). I think youll find both Gardiners and their products are highly regarded, Luke

Highly regarded, LOL by who?  People on here?  it'll take more than that to impress me I'm afraid.  Also 'highly regarded' on here are the water barrel method of window cleaning, the rusty old car and the tank glued into the back of a van method. Guess what I don't rate them either.  Just becuase people go on about it on here don't make it good.  IF a proper supplier started selling fishing poles that stuck together and needed WD40 and crap to be used they'd very fast get slated.

But because alex is on here a lot and is 'a nice guy' and his stuff is dirt cheap, well lets all say its wonderful when oops it aint.

the 45ft poles I have used and would recommend are facelift carbon fibre, I also had an ionics ergolite (the old one).  IMO not very much to choose between these poles, I prefer the clamps on the facelift, but I like the ionics brush better.  Both are good poles and get my vote.  And neither of them need a golfbag, WD40 or selotape to use.

If you are looking for a practical pole at45-ish height. Buy a telescopic pole not a modular pole. Facelift is the most practical because it's rigid, light, small diameter handle and can easily be dismantled to the bare minimum height you need for working. If you're looking for the stiffest pole then it has to be Ionics.

Nothing wrong with modular. Plenty of happy superlight users out there.

Tennet Clean

why don't you give a modular pole a try before you slate it.  I'm not the biggest fan of them and yes, I also do think there are some guys on here who need surgically removed from Alex's backside but maybe thats because he sells good products at reasonable prices and has yet to come on here and slag someone else, or their product.

I admire your brutal honesty but a bit of tact wouldn't go amiss.

You will find Alex is popular amongst a lot of forum members purely for those reasons. Very few of us know him from Adam but as a supplier his help and aftersales service is second to none. It might also be noted that Alex doesn't actually run the sales side of things either. Many other suppliers are probably fine also, it's just that Gardiners sell good products (and not dirt cheap unfortunately) and has the politeness to stay out of arguments and conduct himself in a proffessional manner - something some members have been unable to do on here.

foxman -  I agree with your views on the strength/endurance videos etc.  however I do think alex was only trying to give everyone an idea of how strong the poles are, nothing wrong with that.

there are some things about gardiners that peeve me off, especially when they say they have poles made exclusively for them, hose made exclusively for them etc but on the whole alex seems to be a helpful sort of chap.

DJW - I never said dirt cheap, just reasonable.

This thread appears to be moving 'off-topic', but that seemed to start once Tennet made it personal, which was very early on in the threads conception, and not about the pole.

I feel a lot more contented knowing that a supplier actually uses this forum, yes as Foxman says theres the phone and theres e-mail if you're wanting to chase up an order, theres also this, as Mr Gardiner (not using first name terms, I'd probably be categorised as needing to be removed from his orifice otherwise) frequents this place; which just makes the whole transaction business seem all the more cuddly and fluffy  ;) but someones gonna think thats a comment worthy of picking holes in  :-*

I felt a lot more secure when placing my last order with Gardiners when Alex came on here and illustrated through pictures (bit like going back to Primary school for me)  ;)

what I needed to know and how to put things together.

So I might be a bit thick and need someone to show me how to do things, but I appreciate a professional attitude and approach, which I definately see not happening from some, perhaps they could practice some restraint of tongue and pen (its marvellous for character building, whether you're aware you need to or just want to put the world to right)

 ;)

Nothing against other suppliers i'm sure your all great! Some aren't easily recognisable on here. Alex does provide weights and stiffness of competitors poles on his site which might annoy some but pleases others. Maybe if people like "foxman" would make themselves known then we could chat to you too. :) As far as i'm aware you all sell the same stuff anyway apart from Gardiners own products.
Facelift poles for example get a good response on here. I've never used one so won't comment on them.
