IMO its too much for such a small staff to handle.
So the moderators ARE paid after all. No wonder there;s so much deletion.

Swearing , bitching, threats, and you can't find him. Mention money and he's there.

needs to tighten up a bit
i nominate nat jones as moderator
he has a fine track record on the irish forum
a real enthusiast  lots of energy
his contribution has been awesome
ask him nicely he'd help

Thanks for the nomination Jikwan,.. but even if I was offered a moderator position, I would have to turn it down as I'm sure many people would see it as a conflict of interests when I already have my own forum,... besides,.. my place keeps me busy, I wouldn't be able to devote enough hours to CIU to make any real difference.

What about LWC, windowwashers or Luke "SL2" Johnson?

you also need to be on a fair amount of the time and only saddo's do that  :P :P

Got to be said, the best people to moderate are those with plenty of time on there hands - office people and the like, hasn't the pwner of express cleaning got an office bod to to it? It must take hours - stuff that for a chocolate soldier.¬!

My posting has also reduced over the past few months, this place needs more Mods to help the two Mods, we know they have jobs to do this is why more Mods are needed,

I don't post as much now unless I see a post I know were I can help, i just sit in the background and watch now, sad really as this was a great place to visit get and give advice if you have the experience, I even see posts from Guy's will little or no experience trying to give advice, this can be a dangerous thing???  And to many posts go of the original Topic. Just my views.
Yet another swipe at the mods - about time this was stopped it does more harm than anything.
Were do you see it having a swipe at the Mods????? The Mods on here do it FREE of charge, maybe if we all paid for a membership then the Mods would be paid, but as we get to get on here free, then the Mods have to do it free and in the spare time, they also have there own business to run, so they can't be on here 24/7, I think you know very little when it comes to Administrating  and moderation, there are 2 Mods who have the Job of moderating this section of the forum, for the past few months there has become more and more need for them to read all the post, posted on here.

What these 2 guy's need is a hand, but to become a Mod the first thing you need to do is READ the forum rules, and stick to them, then you have to be prepared to take the flak from anyone who doesn't like the decision you made,be it the right or wrong one?
There will be times when you feel like replying to a post with your own personal feelings or even to have a dig at someone, well guess what you Can't, Not without looking very unprofessional, Just take time to read Ian's and Trevor's replies, they are always professional in them, Can you handle that???????

Does anyone know what the history of this forum is? When did it start? Why did it start? How did it become popular?
I can see there was a need for information in the early days, but broadband hasn't been around that long, and I wouldn't have thought wc's would be one of the early techie type users.

I was against computers and only got one along with broadband becoming widely available. Then I went around telling everyone how marvelous they were much as I do on here.
I jumped straight in, top spec and full microsoft office 2003. So i don't know anything about dial up or early users or forums.

Don't know if this would fly but why not have the more regular posters do a rostered moderation job to give a hand.

Say 20 posters who each pulled 4 shifts a month to give a hand to the mod's

They could have reduced powers for example just reporting breaches of rules using the report to mod button and locking temp l;ocking powers which would allow the mods to only read the reported threads.

By the way the site is becoming less informative and more repetitive imo.

i was on at the time of 33.6 k modems ;) back in the old daus of the BBS

my phone bill monthly was 300 quid ;) as it was dial up and you had to pay for what you used, of course the more you got into it, the more you got out of it

them were the days

the thing i miss most about working for myself is the "banter" you get in factories ,on building sites ,probly in offices too (never worked in one so i dont know) this forum helps me in two ways :firstly it helps when i need advice or have a problem that is technical in nature ,only this evening i have had some good answers to a question i posted and i have enjoyed using my limited knowledge to help anyone i can ;D :secondly it provides the "banter " that i miss. Many window cleaners work alone and this site helps to release the pressures of the average working day.It can be a lonely job sometimes :( and its nice to get on here and have a bit of a laugh and even(within reason) a bit of a fight.Anyway instead of restricting /deleting/moving posts perhaps the categories need revising ??? have a technical/advice section and a more "political" section for more loosely related WINDOW CLEANING RELATED issues (NOT THE GENERAL CHAT BIT) where the diy cobblers and the .....pros?...motivated   whatever can have a bit of a ding dong. Also does a "Gudeline " page appear when people register? it could detail forum ettiquette (I for instance did not realise swearing was banned when i first got sucked into a heated thread) .Just a thought but generally i think some of the stuff thats classed as "off topic" is the most therapuetic ;D...phew

Speaks for itself really  :(

As Ian says there are more and more of the one-liner replies and posts here nowadays.
I agree with Nathanial.. the mods do a great job but need more help.
