E2 Ergolite
« on: February 10, 2008, 10:09:24 am »
Who has got one ?.

Any user reports ?

I need to change all my poles , the excell poles are no longer up to the job for me, they keep snapping and  we always get loads of splinter off them.  >:(

All my poles have snapped in at least 2 places, they just aint as strong as the old ones.

I dont want metal poles, we do glass canopies etc and one wrong move will shatter them, also they scratch cars to easily, dont ask me how i know   :-[

I also dont want fishing poles, one is enough for specialist work  but not everyday use.

Anyway back to E2 , any good in long term use ?

have to say no to the E2 but i have had a carbon facelift for 15 months now & can't recommend it enough for many reasons, if you are interested in the said pole, reply & i'll tell you more, just don't want to rant on if you're not in the market for one. ;)
P.S. what length would you be looking for?

Tony , i am looking for all lengths as i am replacing them all, they are all falling to bits at the same time.

What make carbon have you got and will it stand up to staff abuse ?

As said i use a 44ft carbon facelift.

This is my oppinion after 15 months of abusing the pole-

I have only once had to tighten a clamp (tool free process) & have only once taken it apart to clean it. it still works as good today as it did when i first got it.

The beauty of these poles is that they are demountable- each section can be taken off easily with no tools required, they just slip on & off each other ( & yes, they are telescopic ). this gives you the ability to use one pole at any length you wish. like me, i only use mine at 44ft once per month (all sections fitted) 30ish ft a couple of times per month (5 sections fitted) the rest (95% of the time) with 4 sections fitted @ 24ft. The other benefit to this is that if you do break a section you can just replace that one section quickly & easily. The clamps are superb, low drag, very possitive almost like an on/off switch- so extending/retracting is very quick & easy. the clams are slim not bulky & can be positioned anywhere around the poles circumference- top, bottom, side etc. so there is little chance of catching the clamps on anything.
It is light, rigid & very, very rubust compared to some others in it's catagory.

You can easily alter the length of pole hose by using a push-fit in-line connector which will still go up & down inside the pole with no obstruction, this is what i do so i don't have 44ft worth of pole hose on my 24ft pole.

The facelift brush is excellent for big glass- commercial but not so for domestic ( it's a bit big & bulky) however, for 6 quid you can purchase an adaptor from cleantech which allows you to use a standard thread on the end of the pole & fit your prefered brush/goosneck/angle etc.

All in all it realy is a top qulity piece of kit, one of the only things i've ever bought that has lived up to all it's hype & done exactly what it said on the tin with no hiccups.

Hope this helps

Tony

Thanks for the insight, very interesting.

When you are the with lengths taken off, do the section ends get damaged and splintered when placed on the ground.

Is there any protection on each individual section or do you have to put end caps as when required ?

I'd say the new SL-X from Gardiners will do most of your residential work, if you have any. Probably will do that better then any pole on the market. The specs are on their site.

You can purchase a rubber protector for each section of the facelift.
The new slx from gardiners should be available at the end of the month. it's spec suggests it will be a better pole than the facelift but at present only has an (actual) length of 26ft with a possible 5ft extension on top of this.

Tristan

To be honest putting on a successful display at a show is quite an expensive business, I would rather spend this money on some more research and development. Also this cost has to be passed onto the customer at some point.

Shows tend to put quite a 'blip' in the sales figures, which at the moment we would rather keep as they are. We are moving into a new (6x larger) premises in March and taking on new staff members, all of this will absorb any spare time and resources that the firm has available. Sometimes you have to 'count the cost' and decide what is practical to do and for us the show is not a feasible undertaking.

We have yet to deliver the SL-X to all of the customers who have reserved them, so creating an even greater demand for them would only lead to stress for us. :)

Anyway it's over the Tamar for us so it's a no go! ;D
