WFP unsatisfactory results
« on: February 09, 2008, 07:55:29 pm »
Having gone over to WFP this last week I am really pleased with how things have gone.

Except.............

Ive read on here a few posts where guys have gone back to view their work (for collecting maybe or just to check it out) and found the result to be just not good enough and depressing.

I know full-well how trad can cause problems (dodgy blade/too sunny/poor technique/dirty water/filthy windows) but what is it that can cause problems with WFP?

I cant see that it can leave smears or streaks, perhaps it can, but dont know how that can be just yet.

Can someone please explain what issues there are to consider in addition to thorough scrubbing and competent rinsing please?

Matt

Ok, ta, so operator error could be?

Inadequate brush-work/rinsing? Anything else to be aware of?

In full sun its hard with Trad, what about WFP?

Never smears or streaks just the little runs of spots you get from dirty water drying on the glass

thats about cock on really, just go crazy with the water for the first few cleans but accept that there will be some houses where it will never work very well (you might even find that certain windows cause problems on a house that is otherwise fine) and be prepared to drop these its better in long run if you do ;D

seriosly tho matt i think some people on here obsess about problems with wfp i had about half a dozen problem jobs when i changed over and all have been resolved one way or another, in total i lost 2 customers  but there was plenty more to take their place. And dont forget just how bad a window can look if done trad by someone who dont know how to do it properly :o much worse imo than a few spots

which do not stop after the first few cleans, they might be up under the rubbers, they might just come from no-where

Having been cleaning with WFP  for two years now and having had all my share of problems and unhappy customers I have come to a few conclusions which put most problems into perspective.

1) If your water is Ok. Any marks or runs HAVE to come off the frame. Even if you don't wash the top frame water will splash up there and drip down later. Its best to really give the frames a good going over on first cleans.

2) Water from the top windows can and will run down or drip down onto the windows below. In the process it will pick up dirt from the sill and brickwork.

3) Milky frames are the biggest cause of problems. Learn all you can about them but first learn to recognise the type of windows that milk.

What i find incredible is that whatever the weather, the rain won't produce those tell tale straight runs of spots, won't run off milky frames, and won't leech out of rubber seals, split putty or flakey paint. Strange.  ???

Thats because its the brush that desturbs it. We cause our own problems but realising it is half way to dealing with it.
