If you had a £10 min charge, you would get £30!!! ;)
An example from my round would be when I had a call from a new customer the other day wanting me to clean 3 skylights on a monthly basis on his single story barn conversion. They are all next to each other and are only about 10inches wide by 18 inches long. I told him that I could fit him into the round but my minimum price is £10, thats fine he said, and he was delighted with the results from the first clean.

I'm not criticising you LWC, I just think it would benefit you and others to set a minimum price of at least £10  ;)

yeh i know, but theres no way i would charge £10 for them. they are my cheapest i do.  just couldnt charge a minimum of £10 pounds for like 5 little windows. i think its about being fair.

£10 minimal on a house possibly, but like i say when its a few windows you HAVE to be fair

Most other trades have a minimum charge or a call out charge, it makes good business sense, you still have to unload and reload your kit and collect the money, it all takes time.In the example I gave of the barn conversion with the 3 skylights the couple actually think that £10 is a very reasonable price, and I tend to agree with them!! ;D

your barn conversion example makes sense but you cant apply it everywhere and in some areas of this country a 10 min charge would severely restrict your business

There are plenty of window cleaners in my area who charge silly prices eg £8 for a 4 bed house that I would charge at least £25 for. But I continue to pick up more and more work with my higher prices because of the way I run my business and the way I sell my services to my customers! ;)

which is why you are able to charge the amounts you do.... and fair play to you BUT it doesnt work every where .I am based in south lincs and its a rare old mix man believe me .......from 8 bed manor houses where you also clean the conservatory over the swimming pool to 1 bed flats in rows of 10 each so horses for courses......and we have a fresh wave of chancers every year in fact give it 3 months and they will be out again...the tossers ;D

Have to agree with Groundhog on the min charge be it £6 £8 £10 or what ever, I pick up work aswell doing this and have done for a long time, one window is £6 min if next door to a customer.
