Just got a call from Ionics
« on: February 05, 2008, 06:32:07 pm »
I have just put together a leaflet and included the reach and wash logo (someone told me it was free to use) i didnt think any more of it then today got a call from Ionics saying that i had put a leaflet through one of their customers doors and he had contacted them. The guy from Ionics said i have to have one of their systems to use the logo and could i please stop using it ..... only problem is i have just had 10,000 printed! ... Any ideas?

I don't think there is much you can do except to take a hit on those leaflets  put it down to experience. Now they have found out and contacted you, they will obviously not let it go now.
As it's a dispute you won't be able to win, you might as get their system or get new leaflets. There is no point in fighting a losing battle.

just get a bright sticker made ( look on eby for custom stickers ) and have the words " act now, summer is coming " or something like that

failing that, just get the flyers out as they are  ;)

I think it is safe to say that Craig and his team do not like anyone using their copyrighted logo. He has obviously spent good money on the design and has made sure it is safe.

Do not underestimate that you may find yourself in a whole heap of brown stuff if you continue to put the leaflets out.

Sorry but if it was my design and you used it I would do the same - who told you you could use the logo?

I understand why Ionics have done this if you dont have there system as it is there branding, but why would you use it if you dont have there system?  :-\

stand in the street and ask 20 people that walk past what it is and 19 will say they dont have a clue.

it is not hard to knock up a guy with a wfp in hand or be creative and use water in the shape of a guy doing it.

Hard lesson learnt , don't use copyright images without permission  ;)

bin the flyers or as someone said put a sticker over the logo

the sticker comment is a really good idea. If you can customise them with a good message or mentioning another service you can provide they would draw attention and make your leaflets look more eye-catching.
It could be a blessing in disguise. Especially if you promote a high value service on them, like fascia cleaning etc.

I was told by a local window cleaner to me (who has the logo on the side of his van and also doesnt have an ionics system) that it was the universal american wfp logo and was free to use. Only realised it was ionics logo when they called me today.

We are not all part time window cleaners! I for one would find that real hard!
