if you go into the HM website, go to VAT, go to ready reckoner and in there there is a list of trade sectors. I believe it is any business not listed elsewhere, go into this. (there are 2 linegaes that are similar, but you should find window cleaning in one of them) Keep delving you will find it. A word of caution. depends on what you call your service, we are a cleaning service as we don't just clean windows and the flat rate is 11%. A while ago window cleaning only was different at 10%. ;D

Well almost...... but welcome to the non paid tax collection service is more like it......don't forget your 1% discount in the first year. The % percentage you pay over to C & E is your gross (including vat figure) times the percentage. Total job including vat is £100.00. so if on 10% £10.00 goes to the C & E. You will also be liable for personal tax on the difference between the 17.5% and you flat rate %
Good luck ;D

Have you gone or about to go over the threshold then? We are close, and have to make the decision whether to go on the full scheme or not soon :)

Can you leave and rejoin the flat rate scheme as often as you wish?

You'll have to read up on it, but I believe once you voluintary come out of the flat scheme, the same business can't go back on. There is a threshold you can go to which i think is £187500.00 inc vat (can't be bothered to look it up, but somewhere in this region) and once there you have to go to full vat anyway
