Hey there, welcome!

Can't advise you as to where to get equipment from as I live down south, but I was a mechaninc for 10 years and I can say that FIAT stands for Fix It Again Tomorrow. The best vans are VW VW VW

happens all the time, Sorry to say that someones opinion is just that. Got a friend whos a taxidriver and used a doblo for three years and the only time it went into the garage was for servicing, and he was doing 1500 miles a week. Bought a vw minibus for the same job brand new on a 56 plate, and he's on his third van cos the other two went pop. Dont use one for windows but the best van is a toyota. Only trouble with these is you get bored with em cos they never go wrong

You're absolutly right Steve, it is an opinion, Isn't that what a forum is all about, sharing views and opinions. I would like to think it's a well informed one! I worked for a van dealer for ten years, I fixed more FIAT's than any other vehicle, one unlucky taxi driver against ten years hands on experiance? I'm prepared to admit that this isn't always the case, If they were that crap FIAT would go out of business (like Rover ;D)

ok cleaning

i had one of these and would never buy fiat again the van was 3years old and it needed a new turbo £600 then 6 months later a new heater matrix which is the small radiator in the dash, started leaking , it had corroded in one corner and leaked water into the cab , when i contacted fiat about the heater matrix the guy at spares said he had sold quite a few of them lately not a good sign! . gone back to an escort van for the time being. heard good reports from others
i just got a bad one :(

yes we all have our opinions, and to be fair we all have the good story or the bad. Apart from window cleaning I also run a self drive van hire businessand unfortunately run transits. In my time I've run most makes of vans , including VW, FIAT, CITROEN and TOYOTA. Out of all the makes toyota have got to come out the best. Normally a van has something outstanding or something really bad, but the toyota hi-ace is just outstanding

I bought a Doblo 1.3 Jtd new in Nov 2006 on a 4 year lease.
Amazingly nippy for a 1.25 diesel turbo! Will cruise at 75/80 on the mway too.

A friend has a 1.9 on an 04 plate and it goes like ... off a shovel.

(I went for the 1.3 because I do very low local miles and its gross vehicle weight is 2000kg and so it can legally travel at car speeds on dual carriageways and 60mph roads. The 1.9 has a 2025kg gvw and so is restricted to 60 and 50 on certain roads.)

I have a 400l flat tank. (go for an upright I suggest)

It does 40/45 mpg.

Problems?

Starter motor remained engaged last month and was replaced under the warranty. That's it.

I love it and would go for another except I will next probably go for the new Scudo and run a 650L and have 3 front seats.
It's a game of three halves!

If you buy a transit make sure the dual mass flywheel and clutch have been taken out and the conversion one put in, or keep a good ear out for the starter motor playing up. Wheel bearings go  pretty reularly, clutch master cylindrs are another one. Why make something out of plastic when it has that sort of pressure going throuhg it????. Then last of all is the price- £30.00 change from £20,000.00. Now gone over tothe new citroen relays, nice van and nice and cheap, bought three last month and got change out of £38,000.00
