Hi vincemee, glad to see you here.

I think "stamp windows" must be your local description for something which will be blindingly obvious once we're told, but by the amount of replies you've had - from what's normally quite a responsive bunch of folk - I think you'll have to describe these windows in a bit more detail.

Only one result comes up from a search for stamp windows and it's about SAE's!

To put me out of my misery - does anyone else know what stamp windows are?

I think I know what he means, I call them that too maybe its a London thing? I think you guys call them georgian? one frame split into loads of little squares? I usually rag them on the inside and use a small squegee on the outside.

no problem doing stamps as long as the paintwork is good.
The unpainted timber ones are really easy you should fly through them and earn loads.

Ah, the penny drops!

I know them as French windows if they're the size of a door and normally in pairs at the back of the house, or "Wee Paners" if it's a window. I've got one customer who has four pairs of French windows making up a complete panel - I really should have walked away before I got the job!

Any more regional variations, or definitions, for this type of window?

How about; b*#%^cks f*-$@ and a complete b*@%+

Unless you have WFP  ;D

I now love georgian windows 8) They might as well be a single sheet of glass ;)

With WFP, once you have got past the initial cleaning you simple was and rinse from top to bottom on return visits, it really is that simple.

Though on old wooden frames you have to beware of those that have oxidized paintwork.
You can check this by wetting your finger and rubbing it on the frame, if it comes away with a powdery residue then you will have a problem.
WFP very poor with this type of clean. Can be done but takes several cleans to get a decent finish.

Hijo de puta ventanas pequeñas
Google translation comes out with "Son of puta small windows"

OK Karl, what's puta?

And did you know that one of the local double glazing firms up here is called Vantana? I wondered where that came from!

Isn't 'Puta' Spanish for sleeper?

 ;D ;D
Now why would I know such Spanish words?

Hope you've enjoyed it and learned some words more useful than Toro, Ole, Bravo and Fiesta.

I certainly have, and I was only slightly out in my original guess!
