Van mount or trolley system??
« on: January 28, 2008, 10:15:49 pm »
Hi peeps

I have a renault kangoo (600 kg pay load) and just starting out

Would you advise a trolley system or van mount system?

I see that purefreedom do a trolley system for 1k.Could i get a van system for this amount and wont it be better dragging hose rather than dragging a trolley about. And for the jobs that i cant get my van anywhere near, get a backpack???

If i was to get a van system what would i need if i did it diy and what size tank could i fit in my van??

Many thanks

Mark

Van mount all the way,.. its sooooo much easier and faster. You'd prob struggle to get a 400 litre system in with that payload though. I fitted a 400 litre tank in a pug partner, but was just careful to only fill the tank 3/4 full.

 Hi mate

I am thinking about a trolley system, a lot of my houses I dont think I'd get a van near. Can you  and anybody else tell me the problems you had  with the trolley

                                                                           Many thanks in advance

But on the other hand there are people on here that love them and wouldnt be without one it personal prefrance i think(sorry about spelling)

You'd be surprised how far 100mtrs of hose will take you,.. I can get EVERY house on my round with the van mount,  just about. I'd recommend a van system AND a backpack for those awkward jobs.
purefreedom seem to be the top supplier at the moment,.. I personally got gear from them and was very impressed, so I'd always recommend them.

As for tank size, in a 600kg van, 250 litres is about the biggest you should go for,.. you might get a few barrels in there too before you max out the payload,.. but only 2 or 3 barrels.
What I did when I had a 600KG Pug Partner was I went and got a 400 litre tank, but made sure never to fill it to the top. The only reason I did that was because I always planned on getting a bigger van. I just got a Pug Boxer with a 1525KG payload, so I swapped the tank over, filled it to the top,... and I can fit another 2 of them if I want.  ;D ;D

What van do you have? If its a partner or berlingo you'll find the fuel tank is in an awkward position to bolt down your tank. You'll have to get a local fitter/fabricator to weld up a custom frame,.. costs a little extra, but its the only option to ensure your safety.
