But why? if i post a large parcel myself i'm not aware of paying VAT. So does this mean i'm paying your VAT when i purchase something. ??? I don't understand.

It's because the retailer is supplying postage as a service and as such has to add VAT to it.

If a trader is VAT registered they MUST charge VAT on "all" services including p&p,
every business charges p&p then VAT,i know it`s a bummer but that`s just the way it is,like Alex says the Government says  :-\

I charge VAT on advise, that's 976 quid you owe me Dave (mate) ;D

Mind, only on good advise, so that'll be 3 quid then ;)
