collecting to no longer collecting letter
« on: January 24, 2008, 09:54:42 pm »
Hi all
Ive had it with collecting, and am gonna let all my customers know. Has anyone wrote a letter explaining this, and do they still have a copy?.
I want to get this letter right from the start so that people pay on time, and will be interested in anyones input and help they may have.

From now people can pay on the day, send in a cheque, or pay online.

cheers

I just started leaving a SAE one day and included on the note i normally leave, "please post cheque". They soon caught on and i havent been out collecting for years. Just load up your printer with envelopes, print them off and add a stamp. I write the house number and road in the bottom corner of the envelope as i leave it else i found some people didn't enclose the slip I'd left and since I dont know most of my customers by name, I didnt know who the cheque was from. When the cheque arrives just mark it off in pocket george, george, or whatever system you use.

i would just go straight to it..  from the start i just printed envelopes with my address and business name in the corner, then printed small notes both sides - front with name...your windows have been cleaned today... something like that, with a space for the date, and amount due. i have a little picture and contact info with my website etc.. and on the back how they can pay, payment is due within x amount of days, non payment will trigure small fee. Who to make cheques payable too and says to write from address on the back of the cheque, your regular cleaning services will continue between... etc
i print 9 on 1 a4 page, and slot it in the back of the envelopes - with a first class stamp stuck on or not your choice, and post it through the door after cleaning, if theyre home i just knock and they usually pay cash after or i leave the envelope with them all ready to send a cheque..

i havent had any missed payments, and usually receive the pretty little envelopes through the door within a week with the nice cheques that take ages to clear!

just leave an envelope no stamp on the back write their house number and first part of the address no need to give them a letter but be warned some will "forget" to send payment till you catch them in next time

I only now put second class stamps on. The majority of my customers are in and it only costs me about a fiver a week in stamps.

They don't get an envelope or a stamp out of me.  Early on I left SAEs but soon stopped that and went collecting instead.  After too many years of that, I reverted to the customer having to send it to me - at their own expense.  The option is there to set up a bank to bank transfer if they wish to use it.
