Laura Ashley rugs
« on: January 24, 2008, 12:04:09 pm »
Guys:

I'm cleaning 3 laura Ashley rugs atm at home. 2 of them are runners and the other is 8x4.

In the past I've always cleaned them, turbo dried them and then flattened with wood blocks.

As they're "Floppy" I was considering putting the runners into the tumble dryer but am hesitant as have never tried this before.

Has anyone tried this? and if so did they still flatten down afterwards with weights?

best rgds

Wouldn't risk it. You are already flattening them with wood blocks due to uneven drying. I would hate to see what shape they came out of a tumble dryer.

I've cleaned a few of these , they are more like tapestry wall hangings ,alot of natural fibres. Even with cfr tools they tend to curl on the edges but seem to be ok when dry.I would warn them of possible curling and let them decide if you go ahead.

Hi.. Best and safest way to clean these is m/s sprayed and agitated, then dry cleaning granules and final vac,  ;D

Tumble dryer would be a disaster waiting to happen  :o

The flatweave is fine it's the sewn on border that you have to watch out for.
